Twisted X Brewing Company

 

 

Everything bigger in Texas. Spacious taproom that extends into patio, into lawn... with large service bar. 10 beers on tap, the one I had was nice. Quick service.

 

 

Twisted X makes up part of a pretty nice Hill Country brewery tour along with Middletons, Smoke'n Hops, Real Ale, Thirsty Planet, and Jester King. Unfortunately, although Twisted X is open every day, some of the others aren't so you'll have to check. Tours are Thursday and Friday at 4, and Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 with an extra tour on Saturday at 5.

It's a nice looking place with indoor and outdoor seating, and although they only serve beer there's usually a food truck. I assume they rotate, but when I was there it was Sauzy's Burger Truck. They do music and beer events as well, so check their online calendar.

The 10 beers on tap include their 4 regulars but also give you plenty of other choices including 2 specialties that are only available at the tasting room. The quality of the beers seems to be improving, and they're starting to do more interesting things.

Worth checking out.

Nice little out of the way place right down the road from Jester King. Worth checking out if you are in the area. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, decent selection, and never too crowded.

 

 

 

 

Small but modern and tastefully designed taproom and a pretty nice view. Unfortunately the beer is, well they said their theme is craft Mexican style lager... Yeah. I don't know why anyone would think that was a good idea, and the execution here doesn't do anything to change that perception. The beer isn't awful, but honestly it isn't even particularly good for what it is, just variations on bland, grainy lagers. They seem like they might have decided they need to branch out with some more standard craft fare like an IPA and saison, though those weren't all that great either. The best thing I can say is that they are open earlier than Jester King and its worth stopping by on your way just for the pleasant atmosphere and for a sampler if you are a ticker.

 

 

This was a casual, laid back place with a few tables indoors and outdoors, although it was crowded on the day I was there. The beers were only so-so.

Had the opportunity to visit this brewery and was overall impressed with the operation. Nice setup in the taproom with communal picnic tables and a super clean presentation. Very friendly server for the taps and was informative about their beers. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is when I ordered a sampler flight I thought I would get to choose my selection. It was not to be...she poured a selection that was already numbered on the board and corresponded to the flight server I was handed. Other than that it was rather refreshing as they seem to specialize in Lagers.

Nice spot. Didn't realize until I got home that they overcharged me. They had one person serving and another ringing up and they most have got confused. Beer was just ok.

I Like this Craft Brewery. Good all Around. Not the Best I've had BUT everything is Good, nothing bad.

 

 

 

 

Great place west of Austin. Well worth the extra miles if stopping at Jester King. Their core beers are solid and small-batches really good as well. Staff is always super friendly and tap room is perfect for relaxing.
