ate lunch and had a beer at the bar. narrow place with a long bar and the other wall lined with tables for eating.
tap list was long, with a lot of craft beer, and featured NJ breweries. they advertised a "NJ local flight". Kane, Carton, and a few others I didn't recognize being from PA.
service was good, and the burger was very good.

We’ve been to this bastion of a bustling downtown Freehold many times. Over the years, the beer selection has been getting more and more crafty, and in my opinion, it’s ready to be reviewed. Any review of the Court Jester must begin with their burger, a work of art that is nearly two decades in the making, and looks to have finally attained perfection. Their grazing station is not only a tremendous value, but includes many delicious surprises each time we visit. The atmosphere is, bluntly, AWESOME, and it’s always filled with quality folks who enjoy a good beer, some good grub, and a good time. The music is great, too. As for the beers, as I mentioned, they’ve been getting better and better, on our most recent visit we were able to enjoy Troegs, Victory, Flying Fish, River Horse, Stoudts and Weyerbacher, a GREAT selection as far as I’m concerned. They have a sister location up Rt. 79 in Aberdeen that is quite possibly even better, but that’s not for this review. This location in Freehold is great of its own volition, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s right next door to the best thin-crust pizza around in Federicos!
