Tallboy into an oversized tulip.

A- Copper color, ceaseless carbonation, perfect clarity and a full, sudsy head. 4.75

S- Fruity with cherries and berries, floral notes and biscuity, bready malt. Been awhile since I've had a beer with this sort of profile---been too many American IPAs in my life, I suppose--- and I kind of enjoy the break from the norm. 4

T- Like the nose, it's got some dried, almost tart cherry fruitiness, earthy floral flavor meeting bread and biscuits. I quite enjoy the earthy mix with the orchard fruit. Very nice. 4

M- Light-bodied and carbonated with a smoothy drinkability. Touches of fruitiness meet earthy, vegetal currents. 4

I applaud ABW for making an English IPA despite the fact so many in the US turn their nose up at the style. They do a great job of proving themselves at this style and also making a delicious EIPA. Lovely.

Poured from the can into a good sized snifter glass.

Clear and bright bursting dark orange to bronze red body. A real nice shimmering glow on the pour for the body color, filling nicely. Head creams up a bit but manages a simple off tan colored two fingers, and going to a thin puck.

Real nice bright aroma. Hints of spiced honey and orange fruit. Juiced marmalade quality and a bit of herbal tea like action as well, with a simple warmth.

Palate is a real nice mix of body and flavors. Juiced mild caramel, with a big slick lip coating on the palate. Mid palate fills with a juicy marmalade quality, hints of orange citrus and oolong black tea quality also. Soft body, slight dough and biscuit malt with a hint graham cracker and mild soft biscuit body. Chewy nearly as well in mouthfeel with some creamy quality to match,
good juice and thick controlled coating in the palate.

A real nice solid and very flavorful English style IPA.

The hits keep coming with the Austin Beerworks Heavy Machinery series. The latest is their English IPA which uses English EKG and Fuggle hops to give this IPA a very British flair. The beer poured a beautiful clear amber with a significant white head. The aroma was sweet and grassy definitely not the brash and bold American hops punch but with subtle fruity tones as well. The flavor followed the aroma with the fruity grassy tones giving way to a nice palate coating bitterness on the finish. The English IPA was a very light and drinkable IPA with a subtle hop profile that showcased the English hops well. It was a welcome change to the American style hop bomb, and would be a great summertime thirst quencher too. This was a really well done IPA.

Clear gold/orange pour with a one finger head and light carbonation. Nice hop flavor upfront that seems to build in strength. Really nice bitter backbone that contains a bit of pine and grass.

Has a bit of a lager or cider consistency with a malty overtone. Smooth, with a touch of bitterness, and not at all hoppy. The color is a beautiful copper filled a lot of carbonation.

Overall, the flavor is uninteresting and confused.
