Tried in draft at the Flying Saucer on the lake.
A bright and appealing pour: very little head, some lacing, but a lovely luminescence.
Smells fresh and fruity, and sweeter than it tastes.
Opens with a fruity bitterness but there's relatively little after that. A very slight offsetting sweetness. The orange (orange peel, really) taste is very up front and were it not for the alcoholic warmth you'd hardly identify it as an IPA.
Effervescent mouthfeel, light to medium body for the style.
I really do like beers with added fruit so I'm not complaining because I think it's too out of style, but rather because the flavor is imbalanced and forgettable.

I had this on tap at the brewery in Austin. I like the concept of a blood orange IPA but, I felt it could have been executed a little better. I would prefer more blood orange and less hop bitterness. Although, at 7% abv this went down very smooth and I would not have minded having a couple more. Considering the Texas heat this one definitely has some potential given its thirst quenching and some subtle balancing tweaks. Good work Austin Beer Works keep coming out with new stuff.

poured from can into pint glass.
A: clear light orange with peach tones body, and a fluffy, frothy off white head with low retention but high amounts of scattered bubbly lacing, and leaving a scarce cap across the surface
S: sweet, bready malt, tangerine citrus and orange zest, herbal hop
T: follows the nose. a relatively sweet IPA with an herbal shade of hops, with grapefruit bitterness tinges up front and center, the sweet malt acting up throughout. orange zest very forward here as well.
F: medium carbonation, near-syrupy-thick body. dry finish that coats the tongue and inner cheeks.
Overall (personal opinion):
while it's not my favorite entry from the Brewery, this one stands out by using shades of flavors rarely seen these days in IPAs. I wouldn't kick this one back in a session but I'd recommend to hop heads looking for a new oddity.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a clear orange-amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades fast to leave some very light lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is big of a caramel malt mixed with some orange and tangerine. Along with these smells comes some bready notes as well as a little bit of an herbal and grassy smell.
Taste – The taste begins with rather sweeter malt taste, being of a tangerine and caramel sweet flavor that has a good lightly toasted and grainy malt taste. There is also a decent showing of a grapefruit hop taste that gets joined by some herbal and grassy hop as the taste advances. With a little loss of the sweeter caramel as the taste advances, one is left with a rather easy drinking and flavorful taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average as well. Overall for the mix of orange, sweet, and hop the feel is pretty nice and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A rather tasty and easy drinking brew overall. A nice drinker overall.

Pours a translucent orange with a finger of dense, white foam. Head retention is great. Aroma is a little punch of domestic orange flesh and zest, and then moves onto tropical fruits and herbal hops. Malts add a bready backbone. Flavor profile is ripe orange, both flesh and zest. A little syrupy, herbal, resiny hops add a little depth and stickiness to each sip. Bready malts add a little support, but it's mostly hops. Mouth feel is a little soft fizz mixed with a light siltiness. Overall, orange is the main story here with a little bready depth to go along with it.

Poured from the can. Pours with a decent red-orange appearance and a big head that dissipates quickly into a bubbly head. Little spiced aromas with that blood orange. Malty flavors with the taste. Medium body. Overall, good appearance and aromas.
