Had this at the ever rare pro wrestling concert at Sam's Town in Austin. Saw that Dale dude, he rocks, and that other dude who did that Texas Tornados cover. Damn email.
Pours like a malty ipa. Has that light brown caramel like color, dark bronze, 1/2" off white head. The aroma was seemingly all crystal malt and bittering hops. Wasn't pulling any Citra or Columbus in the nose, which is unfortunate.
The taste is similar, its a big blast of 65ibu bitterness, woody, bitter, caramel malty feels. Its very much a nod to the ipas of 25 years ago, when malt backbone was an overdone thing, trying to find "balance" in a style where the consumer very much does not want balance, it wants hops, and flavor. Here, there is more malt flavor, undusted unsweetened bitter caramel and almost nothing from the hops except for a bracing bitterness. Don't give up your independence because it feels so right. A very light orange influence way behind the maltiboi impression. Very much Magnum hops, maybe some Centennial.

On tap at a restaurant in Austin, Texas
Look: Clear amber with no sediment. About 1 finger of head with decent retention.
Smell: Subtle hints of hops plus citrus
Taste: Follows the nose with an expected amount of hops. Slight bitter aftertaste.
Feel: Medium bodied with moderate degree of carbonation
Overall: Definitely a decent IPA. I am happy that I was able to try this beer while visiting Austin.

Notes from 5/23/2020.
Poured from a 12oz can into a Rastal nucleated Teku glass.
The body is clear amber with 2 fingers of white head. Retention is slightly above average leaving a nice cap with a little moderately thick lacing.
The intensity of aroma is medium. There are notes of peach and mango which somehow smell creamy, and grapefruit.
The intensity of taste is slightly below medium-high. The flavor has semisweet malt, a little peach, a little mango, grapefruit with the peel, and a medium-high level of bright fresh hop bitterness.
The feel has a thickness that's somewhat above medium. It's creamy, has a carbonation level slightly above medium, and a medium astringency level.
Overall, it's a very good and balanced West Coast IPA.

Had this beer from a can poured into a shaker pint. Thin head with a golden yellow color and good lacing. Citrus and pine smell and taste. Woodsy, dry bitter finish. Feel is pretty standard for the style. Overall pretty good.

This is a very nice IPA, more if a West Coast style, quite dry, clear, maybe not as complex flavor profile as the best examples, but still very respectable.

After living in the heart of America’s IPA’s for 7 years in Seattle (yes I know Portland you are in the same category), I was happily surprised to see that Texas, and specifically Austin has finally made it, at least with this beer. For Texas it is a 5 but for the PNW a 4

Im surprised this hasnt gotten higher BeerAdvocate marks, but based on what others have said it sounds like maybe there was a quality and consistency issue in the past.
This beer - for Texas - is EXCEPTIONAL.
I was tired of NEIPAs years ago. And sadly, all that most TX breweries tend to brew is NEIPAs.
This is a solid West Coast IPA that reminds me of Fat Head’s Head Hunter and/or Hop Juju. It falls somewhere in-between.
I will be buying this again and often. Great IPA.

Poured golden & clear --- as in, did not look like baby diarrhea. 2020 bonus points!!
Head is good, long-lasting.
Compared to AB's Flavor Country Pale ale, this is NOT the hoppier of the two. In fact, Fire Eagle definitely has more of a malt presence, and has a bit sweet/sticky aftertaste....while the pale ale is clean, light and purely hoppy.
***Side note: This page says the ABV is 6.2%...the can I had says 7.3%...so mayb e they've significantly changed the recipe to a 'maltier' base, boosting the booze?***
So....If you're a straight-up hop fan, looking for a lighter, cleaner brew, I recommend their pale ale ahead of their IPA.
If you want something a bit stringer, at the expense of "hoppiness" then Fire Eagle is a better choice.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance -The beer pours a lightly hazed amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retension, slowly fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the brew is light overall with bit of bread and a touch of grapefruit and pine.
Taste - The taste begins with a bready and light tropical fruit taste, and slightly hoppy taste that has a nice hit of grapefruit and pine hop. These tastes take the taste to the end, and with a bit of grass and herb one is left with a moderatly hoppy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level is average. Overall the feel is pretty good and makes for a easy drinking brew.
Overall- A good brew with an easy drinking feel and taste. Nothing exceptional, but easy drinking and flavorful.
