Welcome back to my New DelMarVa (+ DC) Beer Sunday (Week 778)! I explained today's impetus in a previous entry ( https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25696/343273/?ba=woodychandler#review ), but this CANtinued brewery horizontal is finishing up with either Key or DuClaw on deck. Long live The CANQuest (tm)! My thanks again go out to @tone77 for dropping this one off for me.

From the CAN: "Double India Pale Ale"; "Made In DC".

I was still CANming off of the high of addressing my CANgregation with the last beer that I almost lost track! The Crack! was, at last, uneventful, allowing me to CANtinue with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I CANtemplated my early life as an amateur boxer/fighter in the US Navy as I watched it billow up to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention, fighting to be retained even as it slowly crumpled, leaving a mass of sticky lacing behind for the CANerman to clean up. Color was Yellow - Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity & as The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus lumbered back in from my living room, I put up my dukes & then thought, "Bump it!" I let them have at it for a bit, then stepped in to break things up as they went back to their slumber before Black & Gold v. Gold & Black, aka BOS Bruins @ PGH Penguins. We're all geared up for this one! Bump the NFL ChANpionship games, we want hockey! Oi! Nose was like a subtle L-hook to the schnozz that I didn't see CANmimg! I was expecting two to the dome, but this ChANp was laying back, playing the ropes, then CANming outta the CAnmer with a 1-3 L-R CANbination, the likes of which I was unprepared for! I was like FerdiCANd the Bull, sniffin' the pretty flowers growin' outta the sweet grass when POW!, it erupts with a furious hoppiness that goes right into the sinuses to take up residence. Shook & reeling, I fell back, sCANning in vain for the Round Card Girl or the bell-ringer or even for my CANmer, all to no avail as the hammer hit the anvil for a seCANd time! 8=O Now, I was hearin' bells & seein' (at least 3) Stars, but it was all in my Dome! I got to my knees, swallowed, CANtemplating the full mouthfeel of this bad boy just as the bell sounded. F**k! I CAN't go 16-fl. oz. rounds with this ChAnracter, I argued with my CANrer. Get back in 'air & polish him off, they advised me. Oh, yeah, a big bruiser like that? Sure, why not? I got nothin' else ta do the rest of the day. DING! ROUND 2! I came out with a series of jabs to his midsection, which is why core workouts are key - you drop yer mitts trying to protect a soft belly & I'll test yer glass jaw! His musta been forged outta steel & now he had my tongue, just beating on it with a fury & an intensity that wuz makin' me hear lullabies. Sheesh. It was a subtle, but thorough beating from this one. The bitterness was minimal, but the alcohol lurked inna background & just kept hammering outta nowhere at each & every CANportunity! After several rounds, my CANmina beCAN to wear out. A final Two To The Dome finished me as I fell to the mat with a dry, bitter taste in my mouth. My reCANmondation - don't get inna ring if you CAN't help it! YMMV.

On tap into a pint glass. Slightly hazy golden in color with a medium white head. A citrus aroma with some earthy and bready notes. Taste followed. Not as bitter as expected with an impressive intensity of candied orange and tangerine. The malt was restrained and bready. Slightly hot on the finish but enjoyable.

A very nice beer that grows on you. Pours with a minimal head - nice color. Solid, hoppy aroma; not overpowering. The Initial taste is rather simple, and bitter. Mouthfeel is perfect for an IPA. However, as time went on the taste became fuller - the bitterness became less pronounced and the flavors became more piney and citrusy. Really a nice beer!

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color with a bit of paleness and a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that gradually died down, but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of piney hops are present in the nose along with some notes of citrusy hops.
T: Similar to the smell, from start to finish the taste of this beer is all about the pine, which contributes a moderate to high amount of bitterness along with some hints of citrus.
M: It feels medium-bodied, rather crisp, and quite dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very bitter and piney, which can pucker up your mouth. This might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Poured a cloudy yellow golden color with a 4 finger head in. Spiegelau glass.
Good head retention.
Strong aroma: orange juice, citrus, light grapefruit.

Very carbonated, puckering.

Citrus, orange,, taste with an excellent spicy finish.

Excellent beer. I especially like the orange juice, citrus, and sharp spicy bitterness which doesn't
overshadow the taste.
