Flavor wise it really isn't the greatest thing you'll ever drink. It's definitely not the worst thing you'll ever drink however. The look and feel is what you'd expect for a beer. I don't have the best experience for beer but there are many tasting beers. But if you compare the price to the alcohol content, I think most people would be okay with it. Maybe drink it after a few better tasting beers though so you won't have to be sad at the flavor.

L - Light orange color with transparent body and a finger of white head

S - Typical adjunct lager aromas of corn, grains, and some sweetness. Minor fusel alcohol aroma too.

T - Surprisingly not terrible. Heavy caramel and butterscotch sweetness overpowers the adjunct flavors, but as it warms those come out more. Cloying sweetness in the back, but I can't say too many bad things.

F - Surprisingly light and crisp for 8%. Not sure if that should be a compliment or a punishment.

O - Was expecting worse, but turned out to be ok. If abv was dialed down then this would be a go-to for those into the light lager/adjunct lager etc styles. Yeah, definitely not bad.

Drank from a plastic 42 ounce bottle. Scores and review are based within the style.

Look - The plastic bottle constantly reminded me just how stupidly cheap this was. The liquid is a pale yellow that is pleasantly clear. A bit of white head forms with every sip and quickly goes away. I really dug the label.

Smell - Not much going on, except for a bit of sweetcorn with some white pepper.

Taste - Like the smell, not much going on except for some peppery corn. Alcohol is very noticeable and is the primary flavor.

Feel - Light carbonation and a medium body made this a smooth drinker.

Overall - For its incredibly low price, I was prepared for the worst, but was surprised with something incredibly neutral and plain.

Look: Looks somewhat pretty, very clear, almost honey like in appearance. Head is a thin layer of large bubbles that very quickly fades. The look is the best aspect of the beer.

Smell: Sour malt with a hint of alcohol.

Taste: Weak/sour malt with slight alcohol aftertaste.

Feel: Very carbonated, helps hide the mediocre taste.

Overall: 24oz can bought for $1.09. This is purely for getting a buzz/drunk. It's inoffensive, but the taste leaves more to be desired.

24oz can poured into 12oz goblet. Poured a clean, clear light gold color that had no head or retention.

The aroma was sweet and had a harsh alcohol scent.

Taste was the same, sweet and hard alcoholic.

The body was thin, with a sweet finish.

Drinkability was rough, the beer was harsh to swallow. Overall, a crappy beer. If you need the buzz that bad, just grab a pint of cheap booze instead.

Poured from a 24oz can, this stuff pours a pale yellow with a small, quickly vanishing head, leaving a touch of lacing. Aroma is wet corn, cheap grain (rice?) and wet cut grass. Ice cold the aroma is unpleasant and got worse as it warmed. Flavor resembles canned corn water and gets worse as it warms. Thin and watery, no surprise there. Overall, this is just awful. On the plus side, I liked the can!

you've spent the last six months inexplicably sleeping on park benches in the west side of chicago. you wake up to three crumpled one dollar bills stuffed into your jacket pocket by some naive do-gooder that happened to pass you by. what do you do? there are two options:

a) you go to the cafe down the street and buy coffee, needlessly alerting yourself to the crushing reality that now informs your every motive and movement
b) you go to the convenience store down the street and buy steel reserve, starting the day off right by ensuring its eventual end in approximately two hours

naturally, you choose b, and who could blame you? you disappear into the morning dew like a phantom, steal some kid's remote controlled monster truck, and then sell it to a pawn shop for ten bux. i have a job interview today and i look like i just stepped out of a wind tunnel, all thanks to steel reserve. i am the architect of my own demise, death having bid me farewell at the dock of the bay -- i thank steel reserve for my every success, curse it for my every failure, breathe its name at the tail end of every regret and rose tinted memory. time to go talk about inventory management.

Not much to say here. Good to get drunk on for cheap. Light to adequate foam, thin lacing, and foam is down to little. Tastes like some Corn, meets Apple, meets biscuity malt, meets week old gym socks, meets more corn, with the intense taste of fusel alcohol which suggests Rocket Fuel. Drink only when very cold, horrible when it gets warm. Starts much better than it finishes. Never consistent from sample to sample (not unusual with most Malt Liquors). When it is good, it is very good, when it's bad it is horrible. Overall 1.5.

Is it cheap? yeah, does it pack a punch? somewhat. Otherwise it tastes like trash. Worst beer I've ever tasted or smelled.

Not the worst thing in the world, but definitely far from the best. The colder it is, the better it tastes. Nothing can improve that smell though. It does it’s job, it’s drinkable, dirt cheap, and it’ll get ya drunk.

Ok, first official malt liquor review (had them back in college years ago). This one is dated July of 2018, obviously a BB date.

Clear golden, and somewhat pretty in it's clarity. Lighter golden really. The head is the impressive part. I only poured a little into a snifter as to drink the rest from the can. (note I had half as a part of a side-by-side with DKML)

Nose was somewhat cereal-like - but a Rice or Corn Chex kinda way more than corn flakes or known corn-based beers. There's a light hint of booze, maybe with the very lightest hint of a menthol-like note (I re-emphasize, very light).

Sweet, but not overly so.. not syrupy. The Chex concept comes out again, a cereal-based, fairly clean sweetness. There's not a lot of nuance, though, and wasn't much expected. There's maybe the lightest spice or alcohol bit to bring an ever so little excitement to the beer, feel and taste. I was actually surprised how smooth this is, and the extra ABV for such a clean beer isn't really all that noticeable.

Ok - FYI, this was the 8.1 variety, looking at the brewer's notes. For a higher ABV beer without much going on flavor wise, it was fairly highly drinkable. I may have to try a few other of the style and then revisit my first malt liquor review, but am rating this higher than expected. Overall, however, it isn't something I'd be searching for among the variety of other offerings.

Doesn't have much of a smell. Having tried this beer several times. The beer either smells bad and taste soury. If it's fresh and hasn't been left outside in the heat by delivery. There's not much of a smell and it taste sorta watery.

It has a high alcohol volume so it gets you drunk fast which is great rather than drinking a ton of drinks. Once you drink up a bit you can barely tell it's weird taste anymore if its a smelly batch. It's cheap and it's great way to get drunk fast, almost tasteless if you get a fresh batch best served cold.

24oz can bb 6/11/18 consumed from the can ice cold 8.1% ABV. The beer gets a pass on appearance so that is averaged in by the other criteria. The smell is a little sweet and not much else. Taste is more of the same with defined sweetness and not an ounce of balance. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and undry in every way. It leaves a definite oily coating on your teeth. Overall, poor but it has it's place. Need a buzz for under $2, this will get you where you need to be.
