I had this in Rome. I figured it was a common beer fed to tourist but was on tap so what the heck. Came in giant glass. Nice golden color. A little watery. Light feeling which was appreciated on a warm day. Overall a decent beer but nothing to write home about.

Very smooth and easy to drink. A little sweet and biscuity. Not the greatest beer in the world but for the style it is a solid beer that goes well with food.

Uniformly solid beer, like Heinenken if it were drinkable. The nose is fairly skunky but what follows in the taste and feel is a mellow, cracker-taste that makes the beer uniquely grainy and delicious.

Have to give Italians credit this beer is very smooth. It's golden texture feels like Stella but nonetheless better. It's nothing special as far as craft, but it's a beer that is in that lager category more like a pilsner than a Sam Adams lager but it's not going to get kudos for artistry like hoppy ales would have. It's a must try and does go well with tiramisu and much better than commercial beers like Budweiser. But does taste delicious right out of the bottle and will quench your thirst on a warm day.

I'm going to preface this with I should only review "craft" beer. In part because mainstream commercial beers are aimed at profit, market share, and consumption - not at the art. But that said, this is probably a mainstay in Italy, but here is in North America it is an import so I will give my temporary attention, much the same way I perceive Sapporo from Japan. It's an import and therefore different and so deserves a few words.

Appearance: Stereotypical color, head, retention, and visual effect that you would see in a light American brew. It's almost artificially clear in an overfiltered pale gold yellow, showing it's ability to drift bubbles to the surface, and develop the traditional patio-side TV commercial staged head of white frothiness. I even went so far as to slightly over-pour just to see how it cascades down outside the glass. Does it really have the same predefined, plastic, manufactured appeal as our American/Local counterparts? Yes. yes it does.

Aromas: I always hated the smell of "standard beer", and this one does an excellent job of reinforcing that sentiment with the added bonus that beyond the hot urine there is at least a slight apple vinegar that gives it some character - like a Star Trek "Red Shirt", only in this case you can't wait for it to die off so you can get on with the program.

Taste: Like pounds of raw oyster mushrooms were strained through some distilled water. There is very little if any other flavour profile, and what is there is antiseptically earthy with a slight wheaty touch.

Palate: Despite a continuous stream of fine carbonation bubbles, the body still feels flat. Bordering on middleweight - it has a muted thinning and tin-like atmosphere on the palate, like that mushroom water was poured from an unlined tin can.

Overall: Great if you are looking for pure imbibe-ment, and can't find anything else to drink. From a North American standard it's sub par, from a Canadian standard it is an insult to what we consider a your basic
5% (I'd gladly take an ounce of Blue or Molson over one full bottle of this, and I can barely stand those commoners either).

Pairing: Not necessary. I'm not going to even try.

For a pale lager, it is the best I've had so far (10-14-16). It has the crisp and clean taste of a pale ale, but a better flavor than a pale ale which is also less offensive and overwhelming - almost like the taste of a brown ale.
