Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
For those that want a beer with complex malt flavors, but not the extra roasty flavors of a stout, our Oatmeal Porter is your beer. This Porter contains prominent notes of chocolate, biscuits and dark fruit and smoothness from a big portion of flaked oats. Just enough English hops to balance.

look: 4.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Served up a very dark brown body with an amber tint at the edges and an inch of pillowed, beige foam.

Smell: Chiefly roasty though still not overly so, with accompanying notes of mild coffee, dark chocolate powder, scant fruit, and a leafy hop presence.

Taste: As with the nose, there's a sufficient roastiness with lightly sweetened coffee, cocoa, toast, (light) dark fruitiness, and caramel. The additional ingratiating tastes drop off as the roastiness continues onward (and upward). Leafy hops with a modest bitterness. Dry, roasty, lightly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: An acceptable oatmeal porter.
