On tap at Meridian Pint described on the menu as a double IPA with Columbus and Amarillo hops. Served on draft in a snifter.

Beer is Yellow and quite hazy. Thin white head lots of lacing low carbonation.

Aroma is weak. Insanely weak. Smells almost like nothing.

Beer is medium in body an sweet with a mild bitterness and a dry finish. Hello? HOPS? Come out and play. Nevermind I'm moving on.

On tap at Meridian Pint. Excited to try this, regardless of that jerk drabmuh's review.

Pours a slightly hazed but clear dark golden copper with a thin white head. Surprising lace and whatnot cover the glass and the head fades to a thin collar. Very sweet caramel and fruit aroma; too much malt and not enough hops. Flavor is, oh hell, I didn't even want to finish my 4 oz sample. Very sweet, caramel malt and sugar with... Nothing else? Finish has some lingering dryness but there is trace amounts of hops or bitterness in this and it is overall disgusting and cloying. Fail.

From 22oz bomber to Bruges hybrid glass on 2/26/12
*From notes

A: Cloudy and glowing amber-orange. A decent pour yields a two finger white head that lingers for a minute or two.

S: Ugh, stale pine. That's odd, seeing as this just hit store shelves for the first time. If I want to reach here (and I don't, really), you could say that there's a faint, distant trace of fruit way, way back.

T: Astringent alcohol. It's extremely biting and off-putting. And when the alcohol isn't doing a number on my tongue, the overly bitter hops attack at will. It finishes with a resinous bark-like quality.

M: Meh. It's not setting the world on fire. Rough around the edges. Disappointing to say the least.

O: Lost Rhino should take their Icebreaker back to the drawing board. It's one note, and that note isn't overly pleasant. Though I'm a big "drink local" guy, I'd recommend passing on this.

On tap at brewery, review 3/2017 after straight 3.5 original rating:
(Listed as a new recipe)
Pours a heavily burnt orange with a fair amount of soapy white head. There appears to be enough haze to prevent a clear sight line.

Nose is a tad disappointing. Mainly its strength is lacking. There's a light hint of generic tropical or maybe mango, but there's also a bit of alcohol.

Taste is a medium malty tea up front. This isn't sweet, but the bitterness that counters the malt is not seeming to provide an interesting flavor. What comes out in the end is a tropical tea, emphasis on the latter, with a slightly piney astringency in the back.

Not really offensive, but to go much more than drinkable might be pushing it.

A: This poured a nearly opaque gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like fresh grapefruit and sugary oranges.
T: It tasted like sweet citrus and bitter resin, with some sugary honey. It had a lasting bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with some carbonation. Kind of light body.
D: This was a solid double IPA, with bold hoppy scent and taste. The body was a little weak, and the finish was a little harsh. So it wasn't terribly easy to drink, but it was still a decent brew.

Served in a snifter, but should have done this one in a tulip.

A: Poured a murky, apricot-peach color, with a slight head that really didn't add up to much. I'll forgive it for that, considering the octane level.

S: I got tons of yeast on this one. Seriously, you have to really sift through the bread dough to find the citrus.... but it's still there nevertheless.

T: This was totally a pedestrian effort. I got a lot of booze here and very little grapefruit. After several sips, I started to get something rotten... with tons of candy sugar on top.

M: The texture of this was way off as well. Even when I watched the liquid in the glass, I felt it had too much movement for such an "imperial" entry. The lacing was mild, but really.... who cares?

O: I look back on some of the worst DIPAs I've had in the past year, and I rank this one even below Upland's "Double Dragonfly."

Bomber courtesy of 2dogbrew-- thanks Russ!
Served in an imperial nonic.

Ok. I don't normally read reviews for a beer before I crack it open, but I made the mistake of catching a glimpse of the other couple reviews...
I don't know what they are talking about:
There are certainly some hop notes here. The problem with this beer is actually in the appearance and in the finish...

This thing is murky. Just barely translucent on the golden edges when backlit. It's pretty opaque in the dark heart of the center. Very murky beer, most unappetizing. The head is loose an soapy bubbles that leaves some decent lace rings.

Smells of some tropical fruits, and like a fruity pebbles type-- the sweet cereal grains aren't the culprit I think... It seems it's actually the hops?!
The flavor starts with some sweet maltiness and finishes even sweeter and rather strange sweetness at that. The hops add quite a dose of bitterness that really blends into a big booziness that does quite a bit to dry it out... But not quite enough. The boozy bite is harsh and unforgiving.

Feels oily and slick with a medium body. Ample carbonation.

Overall-- I really wanted to like this one... But it just isn't in the cards. It isn't terrible, but there needs to be some tweaking going on before I want another bottle.

Pours a hazy amber/orange with a decently thick white head. Not much retention but a slight collar leaves some lacing. The aroma starts out with strong citrus hops notes but as it opens up in the air it sort of drifts off. There's still some hops, but its not as distinct. The same can be said for the taste. All that being said, it still tastes and smells pretty good. It has a nice weight to the body and all in all I'm not unhappy I got it.
