“On a known drug corner”, or so says Ben. And what the fuck are we doing in Clinton Hill anyway? Oh yeah, beer (and then an awkward silence and that look). You know, for a moment there I though you said “beer”. Really? Beer here? Apparently so. Every time I think the borders have reasonably been reached, it pushes out further this way and that again, beer...

For starters, I haven’t seen a strangely off triangular shaped room since the Brazenhead. Off the corners, a “C” shaped wood bar seating 14 or so with a foot rest. Barback wall is angled differently so it pulls away from the bar as you go, try not getting seasick. Phat wood beam counter shelf, with tiered booze on center, wines to one side & boozings about, over mirrored panel backings. More booze and bottled beer selections above on glow rope lined phat wood shelves. Keg toppers lining the barback pillar and vintage beer trays on the top shelf over the barback and partially below. Bottle selections listed on a blackboard next to where they sit (Maybe they ought to move it). And the draft list on the wall opposite the bar (They definitely ought to move that).

Drop thimble lamps trace the bar and a couple of bowls high & tight amongst the black ceiling spinnys. Wide plank wood floors, and what look like gray inner walls and definitely brick outers, which the wall of blinded windows on the corner ain’t.

3 framed Sean Connery & Elliot Gould “a new breed of actor” Jim Beam ads alongside the seating (Sean Connery fancies himself a Jim Beam. Oh, that’s good), and, well, a print of a couple of guys in uniform feeding a suckling pig a beer. It’s probably a Foreign Export Stout if I know pigs. There’s a mounted deer head up there to the rear. What would it drink, I wonder. I shouldn’t, but I do. And a large ancient Schaefer “When you’re having more than one” vertical sign on the end.

A single hightop just off the door, a bar counter with a tablesque spur alongside, and something at the far end of the room where it narrows. That something being a shorty, well, not a table, but benchings cornered 3 sides around a couple of block stumps. Also, a handful of tables to the rear in the ever expanding room, as it is. We showed up at the right time and scored a most choice seating scene.

3 towers of 4 taps each along the bar, quick math, that’s 12 in all. A good mix of craft local (Blue Point Oatmeal Stout, Greenport Harbor Leaf Pile Ale), regional (Victory Moonglow, Stoudts Pilsner, Smuttynose Barleywine, Southern Tier something probably painfully too big for whatever style it is), and beyond (Nebraska IPA), plus imports (Fullers London Pride, La Chouffe, Weihenstephaner Hefe, Guinness), and all the way back around again with a local cider (Doc’s Cider).

And a dozen plus bottles, a little bit of a lot of things (Ayinger Oktober Fest Marzen, Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Professor Fritz Briem 13th Century Grut Bier, Greens Gluten Free Endeavor, Hitachino Nest White Ale, De Dolle Dulle Teve, Sinebrychoff Porter, Southern Tier Pumking, Duchesse de Bourgogne, Pretty Things November 15, 1901 KK, Dales Pale Ale), and a few macros.

Started with the Moonglow (‘cause it’s love), and then had a Fuller’s London Pride (‘cause it’s been a while). Beer was fresh and clean, but I would expect nothing less from these guys, having seen their sister locs (4th Ave Pub & Wa Commons).

Dropped in the other night and landed some space outside in the seating running an L around the front side and off the corner. Sadly, the candy store next door was closed for bi’ness at this hour. It’s filled in nicely here this Saturday night. Seriously, we are amazed at the look of the crowd here, lady folk and gentrifiers, they. And. yeah, they’re playin’ some decent tunes. An easy roll from Ben’s, and totally chill house, dropped in where beer doesn’t play or hasn’t before anyway.

Corner location, semi sketchy mini park across the street (see SLander's) review for some more local details.

Outdoor tables, long bar as you enter...a load of taps...you will find plenty of quality craft options here.

Follow Beer menus.com for tap list updates and details ...expect beers from places like....KCBC, Single Cut, Six Point, Bells, Weihenstephener, d'Achouffe, Orval, Chimay....an good mix of the old and the new...decent spot for a pint or two
