8/30/14 poured from a bottle into a 2 ounce taster glass.

Looks like a stout. Tastes like rotten coconut water. I was not only unimpressed, I was fairly disgusted. The aroma is almost entirely coconut as well. This is not "well maybe coconut could do something interesting here" but rather, "wow this coconut is so overpowering, I'm not sure what else could be here."

This beer is lost to infection. I have heard of people loving it in February, and not so much lately.

A- Pitch black, little bit of lacing, coffee brown head. No legs on the lacing.

S- The qualities of a BA stout are there, but this one is soured. Bacteria has invaded this one and made it a shell of itself. I am still enjoying it a bit though.

T- Adjunct flavors are not there with the bacteria, but a nice ba stout is hiding there somewhere.

M- Kinda thin. Watery void.

O- This one has been lost; I want to try next year's version though when it comes out!!!

Served from bottle into a tasting glass on 8/2/14

A: Looks like your average BA stout, little thin in comparison due to the milk base rather than an IRS

S: Not good. Smells like sour coconut milk.

T: Chocolate, cocunut, and bacteria. This beer is clearly past it's prime and quite possibly infected.

M: Thin and not very impressive

O: This beer is way past it's prime, while each of us noticed some souring qualities; I don't believe the beer was actually infected. Pretty disappointed, but what can you do drinking a beer like this past it's prime.

Review #800 -- 348 bottles produced courtesy of TW&CP and perennial
The beer pours an inky black with a razor thin tan halo of head that leaves a sheen of oily tan bubbles on the inside of the glass while drinking. The nose is a gust of potent caramel sweetness, reminiscent of freshly baked cookies, with a subtle coconut and booze. The taste is rich and chocolatey with a slow transition into an astringent, coconut-bourbon bite. The body is medium-heavy with a rounded, bourbon-caramel sweetness, subtle coconut, not much lactose, but is astringent/boozy with tannic bitterness and a semi-dry finish. I'd hoped this beer would have a bigger body and be a bit smoother, but it's more spicy and biting by comparison to the other perennial stouts. This beer is definitely big and flavorful with great bourbon characteristics and less coconut than expected.
