Picked this up on draft at Roast House cappy hour for half price. Perfect look, exactly what you want s stout to look like. Excellent smell with taste that follows, very strong coffee which for me was slightly to much. But if like coffee stout you will certainly enjoy this. Overall an excellent beer.

The beer is black with an inch of thick, oily beige head. Top notch appearance. The aroma brings a huge blast of fresh coffee. Dark chocolates and espresso beans. A hint of raisin and a touch of dark fruit. Rich and thick, like Shaq. An imperial stout for the coffee aficionado. Well balanced and packed with delicious flavors. The price is a bit steep ($18.99 / 750 mL), but it's worth it. Great beer.

A- Pours completely black and very thick. A small, dense head forms and retains very well. The head is supremely dense and chocolate in color, leaving an almost solid lacing down the side of the glass. Also a few alcohol feet among the lacing.

S- Huge, dark coffee is the primary component of the scent here obviously. The coffee is fairly bitter in nature and just a touch burnt. Honestly, there is a trace of burnt coffee from the break room at work.

T- The taste of this beer starts off big, dark, a little bitter, and all coffee. If I didn't know better, I would guess this is from a cold cup of coffee from a really good coffee shop. Strong, dark, and just a touch burnt, just like the smell, this beer delivers on the coffee front. The slight burnt and bitterness is evidence of some quality dark malts underneath the coffee. Ends with the lingering coffee bitterness and just a last little bit of burnt flavor.

M- This beer is just so thick and damn smooth. Carbonation level is low to medium and the body is silky smooth and thick as milk. Just a touch of alcohol heat on the back end keeps you from gulping this one down.

Overall, Perennial lives up to their ridiculously high standards once again. Great coffee stout with great coffee flavors. I'm glad that I had this before the BA version comes out this spring, and I'm glad that I live close enough to snag the BA version too.
