Poured in a snifter. Very sweet coffee stout with light carbonation that is very soft in the mouth. The coffee smell is forward, but not overpowering. The smell really grows as you drink it. So far it is my favorite coffee stout. I've had Abraxas, which uses this as it's base beer and it would be interesting to drink the two in the same sitting which I plan on doing at the end of the year.

Had on tap at the Sump release party at Perennial. Tasted this alongside BA Fantastic Voyage, Abraxas and Coffee Abraxas.

A: Dark, espresso-colored rim of head at the edge of the glass.

S: Very coffee forward, great nose, has a bit of a sweet/fruity scent I can't quite place, but enticing.

T: The coffee is pronounced, but without being overwhelming (more akin to 2012 BCBCS rather than the 2013, in terms of coffee flavor). Very sweet as well, tons of vanilla and molasses and brown sugar, all of which highlight the coffee flavor.

M: Great mouthfeel, the closest I can think of would be Alewerks Cafe Royale... very velvety, almost like a milk stout.

Overall, this was outstanding. I'm glad a got a few bottles of it as well to see how it develops. Definitely enjoyed this even more than Coffee Abraxas and BAFV.

Just picked a couple of these up today. Not bad for the price

A - Dark as night. Pours a viscous dark pour with 1/4 inch khaki foam head with great lacing. This is a dark obviously coffee beer that looks just like every other top tier stout

S - Smell is extremely coffee forward with the roast and expresso smells coming through with light hints of chocolate through the nose

T - Taste is much the same. One of my favorite coffee forward beers as you can taste the expresso, coffee, chocolate roast. With coffee on the front end and a hint of chocolate finish

M - mouthfeel is creamy. They really got this beer right. Have not had the barrel aged version but I think I prefer this over ole' faithful FBS. It smells and taste like they used something from Khaldi's. Haven't looked to see where it came from but really reminds me of my home-brew stout with khaldi's highlander grog

O - This is my favorite offering from perennial that I have had. (haven't hard BA Abraxas or BA Fantastic Voyage)

This is a great sipper with a smooth finish and would definitely recommend seeking this out for 13 bucks

Poured into a Bourbon County snifter from a 750ml bottle.

Pours a gorgeous thick, viscous, oily black liquid witha nice dense tan head. Very thick bubbles packed together nicely. An abyss of darkness where no light goes in or out.

The aroma is rich and exquisite. Starts off with strong roasted coffee bean notes, then followed by freshly ground beans and then notes of strongly brewed espresso. Some slight spent coffee ground finishes in the back end of the aroma. The brew takes you through the whole experience of brewing and drinking coffee. There are some nice mocha notes present with some hints of sweet milk chocolate as well as some dark bakers chocolate bitterness. Slight vanilla hints finish this off.

Taste is stupendous. Starts off with smooth yet roasty and burnt espresso notes. Rich and robust with notes of smoke as well as some nice dry and roasted bitterness. The flavor is strong on the coffee notes (obviously) with some good playful underlain notes of soft and sweet milk chocolate. Nice strong roasted espresso and mocha finish with notes of dark chocolate and smooth vanilla sweetness and spice. Nice boozy heat is slightly present. Mouthfeel is perfection. Liquid velvety goodness goes down with enough lightness to not overwhelm. The quintessential balance. Overall Perennial does it again and again and again. This time in another collabo with Sump. Great notes of coffee with amazing Stout notes.
