Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head. Aroma of floral coffee notes with light roasted malt notes and some black chocolate notes. Taste is a mix of floral coffee notes with no bitterness, some black chocolate notes and light residual sugar. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. World-class coffee stout.

Good enough, but underwhelming. Bright and sharp coffee flavor, but thin mouthfeel, and I would say an weak finish compared to other brews in this category. I would try the BA version but I can easily think of a dozen imperial stouts that are a cut above this one.

Note: 2018 vintage

This beer is the pinnacle of this style. Every brewery should be striving for a coffee stout like this. Beautiful complex coffee notes. Mocha, cappuccino. Amazing amount of rich chocolate. Think fine chocolate. There’s milk chocolate, dark chocolate, bakers chocolate. A touch of vanilla, toffee ,along with this bold pecan note that adds layers of depth to this already complex flavor profile. There is also a mild dark fruit presence, with a hand-full of acidic roasty bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is full and verges on chewy. Along with all of that there is a decadent creaminess that puts the mouthfeel over the top. Overall this is just stupid good. 100/100

L: Had this beer on-tap at The Answer Brewpub, poured into a snifter glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque texture. There was a thin, tan-colored, creamy head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing.

S: An okay, but not brilliant, aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of roasted malt (mostly in the finish), some coffee (not as much as expected), light dark chocolate notes, and light caramel notes. The aroma was promising, but the flavor is kind of disappointing. All the ingredients seem to be a little underpowered. Thin and sort of watery.

F: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth aroma. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer has its good points, but it's a bit of a mess. Worth a look, though.
