Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass. This beer is kind of like a cross between a dark rye beer and a saison, which I'm weighing in my ratings.

Nice dark chestnut brown with a 1 1/2" fluffy khaki head. Settles to 1/4", just slightly clinging to the side. Ok retention.

Aromas of sweet rye bread, brown sugar (candi sugar?), soil/earthiness, dulche de leche, some grassiness. A little subtle sour/tangy note, with the breadiness it makes me think of a sourdough starter.

Taste follows the nose, leading with lots of caramel and dark rye bread, some sour tanginess, followed by a little brett earth and funk. There's some nice yeasty spiciness to it too, like allspice and pepper. A bit of overripe banana on the end. There's some other fruit as it warms, like red delicious apple skin, maybe dried apricot? Interesting stuff going on in here.

Nice full body, a little bready and chewy. Ends lighter.

This beer's good but odd. Too malty for a saison, too earthy and funky for a rye beer. It's interesting and complex, but a little dissonant. It's worth the experience, I'm enjoying it, but I don't think I'd get it again.

Poured from a capped 750 mL bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderate hand. Bottled 9/2014.

A: Dark brown body, opaque black in the glass. 1 finger of light tan head. Good retention. Light lacing.

S: Light must, earth. Brown bread. Raisin. Indistinct dried fruit. Yeast. Molasses.

T: Rye spice and a mild malt sweetness open with a subtle undercurrent of brett, earth, albeit lighter than the nose. Gentle hopping develops, accompanied by some light roasted malt notes of nuts, dark chocolate and coffee. Some dried fruit, raisin, and cherry make an appearance as well. Alcohol presence is light. A rye tang lingers briefly in the aftertaste following a semi-dry, but clean finish.

M: Moderate carbonation with a certain degree of creaminess later in the glass. Medium to relatively full body for a saison. Nice presence on the palate and is well suited to the flavor profile.

O: Unique saison/ale with a good rye presence and enough brett and roast to make things interesting. Combines the elements of a few different styles, but comes across in a very cohesive manner. Well integrated and very drinkable. Perennial continues to impress.

Prost!

Beautiful blend of a Belgian dark strong, saison and Brett. It's like a abt12/dupont/Orval blend. Brett is young but you can tell it's there. It's cold and rainy in Seattle and this definitely is a great sipper for this weather. Aroma is complex and bold. Wish more people could make beer of this caliber.

Dark brown to black in color. Not much light will get through. Three quarters of an inch of beige head sits on top. Brussels lacing. I taste rye and Brett. This is a pleasant treat. The mouth is highly carbonated and creamy.
