8 oz serving tasted in a snifter from draft at Consume on November 22, 2017. Owen is a table strength saison kettle and dry-hopped with Mosaic, and package conditioned with Brettanomyces Claussenii. It opens with aromas of ripe papaya and subtle pineapple. The tropical character continues on the palate with complementary notes of rose petals and mineral water. High attenuation and a lean base of Pilsner malt and torrified wheat combine to create an incredibly dry beer with a snappy finish.

A: Moderate lemon notes, light funk, coupled with moderately light tropical fruit, berries and citrus hop aromas.

A: Bright light yellow color, opaque, with a thin head that quickly forms a ring around the glass.

T: Moderate lemony flavor, with a moderately light fruitiness with tropical fruit and citrus hops flavors, clean, with a moderately light funk.

M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Tasty; the beer is very drinkable with a lemony bretty character that pairs well with the mosaic hops.

a tasty table saison type here, mild in every way from grain to brett, where its only lightly funky and sort of simple, less nuanced and developed than say their distant land, which used a similar strain i would think but had a lot more yeast character than this one. there is a lot of fruitiness here though, mango and pineapple for sure, and some red wine elements, i was actually surprised to learn this wasnt aged in red wine barrels. not because its woody or tannic or anything, but because its got so much of this dark fruit going on too, berries and such, really a cool wrinkle that comes through nicely in the beer, but now i cant explain its origin except for the yeast. great carbonation from the tap, really lively on the palate with some light wheaty flavor underneath the brett and the fruity overtones. i love the old worldy rustic vibe to this, but how its also kind of hoppy for a saison, really a neat mix of old and new school. perennial continues to impress me with their saisons and wild types, this is outstanding beer, but i still think the distant land they do is even better!
