Notes: Suburban Beverage is a Gose-style ale brewed with salt, orange peel, lemon peel and key lime juice. The ideal drink after a long summer day working in the yard, picking the kids up from soccer practice, or a taking the dog for a walk. Tart and refreshing, it will certainly make you feel alright. Pairs well with Mexican food.

750ML bottle with bright plumage that seems designed to catch the eye of the male of the species. Worked once. Split with my wife to open a night of drinking on the couch.

The pour is very light yellow with lots of pizzazz – it would be fun to hand this to someone as a new IPA & watch them cough & sputter. Smells like lemon & citrus with a shot of raw sugar, which I’m sure is wrong.

Suburban Beverage is tarter than some sours I know. A bracing shot of salt water up front is torn up by a sharp, acetic bout of sharp lemon juice. Mid-palate brings mineral water (that hasn’t yet been bathed in), something that I can almost identify as key lime, citric. Salt comes back lightly at the end. Refreshing & airy.

Sharp enough to be interesting yet not so sour as to foul the stomach & after a couple of ounces. Very good beer.

It takes a while for this straw-colored beer to open up - at first, I just pick up lots of wheat malt on the nose. The lactic sourness comes slowly but surely, though I get minimal lime. Tasting it, I pick up more citrus and more tartness than was was aromatically suggested. It also finishes fairly bready, with just a kiss of saline. The lime flavors really give a fairly standard gose a unique twist. On the other hand, this one feels a bit flabby and thick (though carbonation is zesty, helping it go down fairly easy). A fun beer that doesn't quite excite me enough to purchase it again, especially at typically-high Perennial prices.

3.37/5: Pleasantly middle-of-the-road, just like suburban life

On tap at Hopcat in Madison, Wisconsin. Served in a snifter glass. Pours a light orange-yellow body, one finger white head with lower retention time, not much lacing. Smells of key lime, wheat, lactic acid, a bit of breadiness, but for the most part, limes and a bit of tartness; the limes come out a bit more as it warms up. Mostly wheat at first. Flavour is exceptionally delicious with a nice key lime tartness, lactic acid, wheat, a bit of oak, no funk, mild breadiness, minerals. I love key lime pie and this has just enough tartness to keep things interesting. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, standard for the style, very drinkable and insanely refreshing. I loved it. Overall, very tasty gose; while it's expensive ($11 for a 750ml bottle), I would probably buy this at least once a year just because I love key limes. Otherwise, there are goses that are more true to the style that come in more reasonable formats and price tags.

Served On-Tap

A — Pours a hazy bright lemony yellow color into the glass, cloudy. There is a puffy white colored head that forms on top and leaves just wisps of lace behind, inconsistent at best.

S — Smell is pungent and bright with huge waves of citrus fruits over a bready light cereal grain malt base. Huge delicious notes of lemon and lime, little bit of salt as well.

T — Taste is tart and tangy with notes of citrus and salt, like a briny fresh lemon or pickled lime rind, not bad at all. Not overly tart or sour, a nice fresh citrus component dominates in a great way.

M — Light in body with prickly bubbly carbonation.

O — Very good overall, this is summer in a glass, I could drink this all day long.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku glass from a 750 ml bottle on February 9, 2018. Gose brewed with Valencia oranges, key lime and Mayer lemon. Tart and refreshing.

Very light and refreshing beer. Certainly accomplishes the goal of being a margarita inspired gose. I get a refreshing salinity throughout the drink. Hints of lime are balanced with an aggressive tartness that never turns into full blown sour. Quenching and flavorful.
