on tap at bainbridge barrel house
Deep almost cola brown colored pour, thin white head and mild retention. Spotty lacing streaks the glass while drinking.
Toasted walnuts, caramel sweetness and toasted grains in the nose. Hints of sweetness and warmth with a continuing notion of chestnuts on an open fire.
Extremely nutty up front, toasted, roasted and broasted hints. Meaty walnuts, bread crust and caramel. Fuller backbone, decently sweet and slightly warm in the finish.
Fuller medium body, decent carbonation, creamy and smooth on the tongue. How do you effectively prevent boring people with a traditional style - evidently you walnut the crap out of it. I was into this but I could see some not enjoying it quite as much.

Murky brown from a 16 ounce aluminum can. Off white head and a nutty aroma. The taste has an acrid flavor, backed with a tannin dryness (maybe from the nuts). The taste is balanced and it is smooth and drinkable. Nice.

16 ounce can into a weizen glass. Had 12/6/21.
Pours a dark caramel brown, semi opaque, with a one and a half inch foamy head with good retention and a decent amount of foamy lacing. Active carbonation. Aromas of caramel, malt, light chocolate, a little smoke. Has a nutty smell. Flavors of malt, caramel, light cola, a little chocolate. Tasted a little nutty at first, but much more so when warmed. Has a bit of a spicy flavor, and is a little earthy with a light bitterness on the finish. Smooth, a very good lighter body that has a fuller feel, well carbonated.
A solid Dunkel. The walnuts are apparent and good. Very enjoyable.

Quite a lively brew making for about a half an inch of mocha tinted foam. Color is quite dark even for a dunkel weizen deep mahogany almost pitch Black. Smell is very herbal Woody the walnuts I could see other reviews being quite bitter and this is no exception. This is not bad it gets slightly herbal to the finish but it's quite smooth throughout. Reminds me of cracking nuts around Christmas time breaking open the chestnuts to harvest the innards. Mouthfeel is light crisp and bubbly almost 7%, I can kind of see it though. Overall an interesting experimental but I think I would rather take a typical dunkel over this if only they made it just a bit more sweeter maybe with the addition of some sugars?

Pitch brown opaque pour with two fingers of tan foam. Walnut, dark wheat, and dark fruit in nose. Taste has earth, dark yeast and wheat, bridged by big licorice leading to odd almost tangy dark fruit and then the walnut which lingers long after the sip. You can feel the nuttiness within the malt driven body, wheat is lighter than in other aspects, lighter body. Taste is a little off with the dark fruit and licorice being so strong, hard to get past as a distraction

"Best by 3/27/23"; drank 11/21/22 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly clear brown/purple appearance.
A violent pour yielded a nice, noisy khaki head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Candied walnut, raspberry syrup & cilantro notes in the nose. Odd...
Medium mouthfeel.
Cherry cola & cilantro flavors?! Odd, and not very enjoyable.
Somewhere a traditional German brewer is rolling in his grave.

L: Chestnut brown body. Khaki head with good retention.
S: Banana walnut pancakes
T: Brown bread, caramel malt, slight banana. Finish is quite bitter with the walnut making an appearance.
F: Medium bodied
O: The black walnuts were interesting. Still, I prefer a classic dunkelweizen. The walnuts add a bitter finish that’s a bit unwelcome. Give me the clove, banana, and bubblegum.

brown color with fine carbonation and relatively thin head
spicy aroma. beyond that, nothing striking
flavorwise yeast is prominent, vague hops and ethereal malt
medium body with no more or less mouthfeel than is required
overall I'm not impressed. not 'bad', but if mediocre is the goal I suppose this one hits it right on target. wasted potential.

Turbidly foggy, nearly opaque brown with a tan head settling to a sparse but creamy film.
On the tangier, yeastier side with a sort of rooty bitterness that’s almost licorice-like, only a faint malt that’s somewhat nutty seems to be able to break through.
The medium body has a fine carbonation that comes to a lightly chewy dry finish.
Not quite what I was hoping for, but not terrible either.

12oz can from Tavour. Golden pour, cloudy, spotty head. Instant hot of white chocolate, then bready malts, and it doesn't quite mesh. Taste brings more white chocolate, a bit smoother than the aroma, but it finishes really fast, leaving no trace on the palate. Not a fan.

Poured can into pint glass. Murky brown body. Khaki head.
Light caramel and banana nose.
Taste follows, but with underlying nutty bitter which comes out on the finish. Smoky roast reminds me of Rauchbier then becomes overpowering.
Oily finish from the nuts.
Disappointing dunkelweizen that doesn't quite balance its bitter and sweet.

I just found this can to be supremely overcarbonated but otherwise idk this just didn't do it for me like I thought it might. Not bad though. Honestly it being so bubbly is the main issue.
