Best year yet. Seems to be a little cinnamon heavy fresh, but I'm sure it will die down a bit. Thick, great flavors, spice is in the background on this version.

Incredible beer. So much going on, and very cinnamon-heavy, but it comes together so well. Look is jet black with a foamy toffee head. Very velvety and smooth. Smell is big and rich, with strong notes of chocolate, cinnamon, mild char, dark fruit (plum, fig, and raisin), molasses and brown sugar, and lighter notes of chili pepper and espresso. Flavor is all of the above, with the cinnamon coming to the forefront with the chocolate, but balanced by the dark fruit and slight heat from the peppers. Coffee and molasses, vanilla and toffee, roasted malt, more sweet than bitter. The booze is noticeable but pleasant. Heavy and viscous and warming beer. Just an incredible sipper on a cold day. I don't love a lot of cinnamon in beer, but I really like it here.

Poured into a snifter. A jet-black color with a thick medium-tan head. Nice retention and lacing. Bold aromas of chiles, cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt. Beautiful taste Rich cocoa, malt, coffee, spices, and Ancho chile. Well-balanced with malt, cocoa, and spice. Medium bodied and perfectly carbed.

Pours one shade shy of black with a loose, mocha-colored head that quickly dissipates. Nose expresses ethanol, ground coffee, cocoa and cinnamon. Taste follows nose; however, the cinnamon is much more evident in the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body, perhaps a bit thin for the style, with an almost still carbonation and some residual heat at the back. Overall, a solid offering; however, a fuller mouthfeel would enhance this beer.

750ml bottle; poured into a snifter

p- black with no head; thin tan ring
n- absolutely massive; spices- cinnamon, nutmeg; underlaying milk choc sweetness; noteworthy
t- follows the nose but on a less bold note; sweet forward- cocoa and vanilla; lots of spices in the fin that pair with roast and linger into the aftertaste; fin is a bit abrasive; med bitterness and light-med alcohol warmth; not bad, but the spicing seems overdone; *spice subsided a bit as I drank; nuttiness came out; became more enjoyable
mf- light-bodied for style; soft-med carb; slick; mf is similar to sump, imo
o- I really regret not drinking this sooner, as I think the experience might have been different (although I'm reading that age actually diminishes the spice); spices seem to overwhelm the finish in this beer; really trying to like it more, but I'm a little disappointed; Bomb and Huna are more likable, imo

Incredibly well done beer. It is extremely thick and rich with bitter chocolate on the beginning palate, followed by a fair amount of cinnamon smoothly transitioned by the chili spice. Very delicious
