Additional Vanilla Beans added to our Imperial Stout brewed with ancho chili peppers, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and cinnamon sticks. Pouring deep brown with a thick head, this beer has a complex body with a delicious lingering roastiness.

2023 vintage; I had this on draft 1/30/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Black appearance.
Minimal dark tan head; no lacing remained.
Cinnamon, vanilla, cream & faint pepper heat notes in the nose.
Creamy, flat medium thick mouthfeel.
Cream, cinnamon, oak & booze heat flavors.
A bit sharp for me, but not a bad quaff.

You can smell what the addition of the extra vanilla does to regular Abraxas. It translates well to the palate, as well. Chili peppers and cinnamon still come through, and of course the beer is still rich and chocolatey, but the extra vanilla makes it that much richer and smoother.

Lots of vanilla, probably too much for some folks. The high ABV is absent on the palate, but slick and a bit too sweet. Bring a friend if you get this beer in a large format.

Look - Black and thick with a really thick tan head and rimming along with sticky lacing
Smell - vanilla forward with chocolate and cinnamon
Taste - Vanilla forward like the smell with the classic abraxas cinnamon, chocolate and pepper. The cinnamon starts getting more dominant the warmer it gets but the vanilla is still fantastic
Feel - full body creamy light carb
Overall - really like the vanilla adder

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium dark brown foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of strong vanilla notes with some chocolate notes and light cinnamon notes. Taste is a mix of vanilla with some chocolate notes with light cinnamon and chiles notes. Body is full with good carbonation with some light warming alcohol notes. Solid imperial stout with some nice spice notes.

Sweeter and less complex than the original version, and ultimately not as successful. The appearance is an attractive black with light brown foam. Taste is vanilla, cocoa nib, spicy ancho chili, cinnamon and malt. The vanilla tones down the cinnamon and chili a bit and dominates the palate. The feel is outstanding—thick and smooth. Overall a really good beer.

2021 version; vanilla smoothed the cinnamon and pepper without becoming distracting.

750 ml bottle, 2021 vintage. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head that stuck around while. There's also a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like vanilla, ancho chiles, cinnamon, burnt/charred malt, cacao nibs and earthiness. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some dark bread and coffee flavors too. Vanilla stands out somewhat compared to the other flavors, but doesn't dominate them either. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and creamy with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink. I liked this brew a lot, definitely worth trying if you like imperial stouts or stouts with vanilla!
