Big, ballsy and deceptively dangerous because the 8% ABV is well hidden, Coastal Evacuation is a DIPA lover’s delight. It’s a West Coast Style and just a bit hazy, but rather clear for an unfiltered brew. Certainly nowhere near a NEIPA. Lots of citrus and fruit in the nose, and if you do some retro-olfaction, you’ll detect the honeydew described on the label. A pleasant malt base is matched up nicely with a slightly bitter, but rewarding finish. Any true fan of DIPAs, or of West Coast style IPA’s will enjoy this baby. Cape May is on the East Coast, but as one guy noted, it’s actually on the West Coast of Cape May. That has to count for something. Excellent beer!

Taste
Wintergreen, dank, and pine sap. Grapefruit juice and zest. Smooth honey maltiness with residual candy sugars. Finishes with bright florals and pine needles.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. Thick cloudy/hazy golden color with a fluffy white head that sticks around for a while. Fruity hop nose with lemon, mango and peach. Flavor is also quite fruity with more mangos, orange and peach. Light bitterness for a DIPA. Solid malt base adding residual sweetness. Full mouthfeel. Criminally underrated so far, this DIPA is easily one of the best in the state. Up there with Carton and Kane. Better price too @ $11 a 6 pack (sorry but $12 a 4 pack is stupidly overpriced). Recommended.
