Bought in Cerveteca in Lisbon, drank at home in Coimbra and poured to a Leffe chalice.

A: The body is yellow-ish to orange-y but slightly more yellow. It's a bit opaque which is a downside and had lots of deposit hanging around which is not good. But the one finger thick white head had lots of retention and some lacing.
S: The aroma is mostly yeasty and malty giving prevalence to the belgian yeast.
T&M: The taste is very good being based on three different profiles of citrus, yeast and malts. Basically these three together create a rather sweet major profile that's very interesting with the minor bitterness that comes next. Both the taste and the mouthfeel are very well structured together.
O: I have to say that even by having a weaker presentation and aroma, I find this Tripel better than the Quad from St. Bernardus. Or is it just this beer talking?

From elcervecero. In La Trappe chalice. Playing Tomb Raider 2015. With Pok cheese. Great tripel. Refreshing, well hidden ABV, not too much sugary, with some peach and herbal notes. Perfect carbonation

Elegant. Butterscotch. A gentle pour from a bottle into a tulip glass, but so much head I have to stop. Hazy, golden amber, sedimentary stuff settling at the bottom. Smell: sweet, yeasty, candied orange. Taste: more candied fruit and a slight hop zing. Medium bodied, lovely.

Juicy, elegant, sweet but not too sweet, spicy, and tingly, all in one beer. A hazy light gold ale with a white head that leaves minimal lacing. Nose is somewhat bready with spices and fruit dancing in the background. Taste is not as bready, with cloves and tree fruit smells dominant, some zing from alcohol also present, hints of darker woodsy notes, and altogether a fine balance. The flavor expands and fades steadily but gently. Mouthfeel somewhat sudsy but ending clean and tingly from alcohol. Classic.

Served in a St. Bernardus chalice, it pours a beautiful amber orange of a golden hue, slightly hazy. It forms a one-finger head, white and foamy, with some retention. The head wanes until it becomes a thin layer of foam, which never truly disappears.
Beautiful lacing.

What a delicious bouquet.
Huge banana and bubblegum esters, caramel, honey, slight fruit as in peach, green apple skin, lemon, creamy and biscuity, a note of spiciness, floral scent.
Truly, truly scrumptious.

Lovable expressive carbonation.
It begins perfectly balanced, and both the sweetness and the bitterness are strong and discernable. Gradually, sweetness prevails, and in doing so, the notes reveal themselves.
Caramel, honey, floral note. Huge malty sweetness, biscuit. Lemon, underripe peach, apple, tamed orange zest, banana, coriander seeds, clove and white pepper.
The aftertaste has a huge herbal note that leaves a very refreshing feeling, like an iced tea; it is predominantly sweet, and oh so long.
I was fortunate enough to taste this quite chilled and then looking at the bottle to see that it was indeed the proper tasting temperature recommended by the brewery.
Medium to light body, so smooth and refreshing.
Long after this beer has gone, I still feel the herbal, floral note in my mouth, a freshening sensation, and that balance tilting towards sweetness.

This is the kind of beer that reassures you that wine can't beat beer.
Superlative tripel.

Pours a semi-hazy light golden yellow with a slight orange hue and very active champagne-like carbonation.

Lemony and floral/herbal notes, biscuits, apple skin, banana, and clove.

Biscuity and toast like malt sweetness, banana, lemon, floral/herbal bitterness, and yeasty.

Medium-bodied, high carbonation.

Overall, an extremely smooth and drinkable Tripel.

L: gives of a cloudy orange color, gives of a very high top of creamy head that half of it dilsolves rapidly , great lacings on the glass .

A: yeast, lemon, apples ,banana, burned sugar , floral hops and spices, got a very fruity feel in my nose

T&F: It starts of with a fruity mouthfeel and flavour, i sense both lemon and apples in the taste, in the middle i think the sweet yeast are kicking inn, i sense both the yeast and different spices inn the flavour, in the ending and aftertaste i feel floral hops, especially in the aftertaste that have a hoppy bitterness. a very complex and good balanced beer. Gives a very fresh mouthfeel.

O: A delicious triple, it was exiting to try this one and i was very impressed by this triple.Easy drinkable and great inn all senses . But my favorite from St.Bernardus will always be the Abt 12

Pours gold with a good sized head that dissipates quickly and only leaves spots of lacing. Nose is lighter than expected with lemon, malt, and some yeasty notes. Flavor is a bit more robust with bright acidity, pepper, grain, and more bitterness than expected. Overall, an average tripel from this powerhouse brewery.

Lots of warmth and comfort from this beer. Flavors and aromas of dried fruits/apricots, lemon, and spice. Nice medium, creamy body.

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a trappist chalice. Label shows a monk enjoying his beer. It has a hazy, orange color. Off white, two fingers tall and very frothy head. Foam is diminishing and creates a small crown. Good lacing. Malty aromas of grain and hay. Lemon aroma upfront. Gentle citrus. Some apricot. Medium body. Soft carbonation, salty. Some spiciness. Wonderful sweet fruits and bitter strong punch in a mouthfeel. Well balanced. Fantastic long, bitter finish. Some sour notes. Served at 9 Celsius degrees.

Bready, fruity, and floral aroma. White pepper, perfume like. Apples, pears, and pie crust-like malt character. Cinnamon. Somewhat savory smelling.

Pours hazy golden with a frothy white head that recedes quickly but leaves sticky lacing.

Sweet honey bread. Almost doughy. Apples, cinnamon, white pepper. Rich and fruity. Snappy hop bitterness, but not much hop flavor. Fairly dry finish, but with lingering doughy, honey sweetness.

Medium full body with medium high carbonation. Fine, prickly bubbles, bring out hop bitterness. Snappy and bright.

More malt forward than others of the style. Less hop character, but with firm bitterness. Rich and fruity upfront but with enough snappy bitterness and a dry finish to keep the sweetness in check.

With its fruity/bitter balance cutting through the abundant garlic and herbs, this Tripel goes well with Uncle Bob's World-Famous vegetable soup... and probably a lot of other great foods, too.

Reviewed in Roger Protz' "300 More Beers To Try Before You Die", a sequel to his CAMRA classic.
Listed in the 1001 Beers, this beers deserves to be there.
MJ's "Great Beers of Belgium" said "The lighter, more flowery, Tripel has a pale amber color ... and the orangey-grassy flavors of Styrian hops."

A fine example of a Belgian tripel classic yeast flavor, classic color, but then here is were I believe the bee falls short. Malt body is not carried through. It's a 1 finger head that leads to lacey glass trimmings. the straw-like aftertaste lack the coriander, clover, honey, orange flavors of it's contemporaries. I've sampled this beer on many occasions and have been duly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's still a top 20 style beer but there are other more deserving beers waiting (for hundreds of years) to steal it's lunch. Koenigshoven (aka la trap) from The Netherlands bests this beer. boom. take that abbey monks. - more malt body balance and a bit of sweetness and clover complexity and you can play with my favorites in this class, until then, mature for another couple hundred years. =Overrated but still damn good.

This is an outstanding tripel and one of the best versions of the style that I can recommend. Appearance wise this is slightly darker in color than the more brightly golden tripels I've seen. Carbonation is a little more frothy with larger bubbles than something like a Westmalle Trappist. This beer greatly improves as it warms up, the fruity esters from the belgian yeast really pop and lend increasing does of banana and baked pear. Not to mention that the belgian candied sugar takes on a more prominent role, without becoming cloying. Spice wise I get some clove and a general sort of baking spice character, but not like a diabetes dessert beer or anything like that. It's well done, restrained to not be overpowering. Not artificially spiced. I love the malt presence in this beer, it is sort of a honey glazed bread, rich and mouth coating. I think this tripel from St. Bernardus is very accessible for anyone that wants to experience the style, yet is complex enough for beer enthusiasts to dive into and dissect for a good long while. A must try.

Look: Opaque light golden/tan color, frothy off-white head
Smell: bready malts and yeast, little bit of banana and maybe some other fruits,
Taste: Sweet malts and yeast, apple, little bit of spice, citrus (maybe the hops?). Overall pretty sweet, with some sour apple/citrus. Slightly bitter and sour finish.
Feel: Crisp carbonation, medium-bodied
Overall a high quality tripel.

From the small bottle, it pours a very slightly hazy golden color with a moderate head, a small amount of bubbles lighly replenish the head, so it fades eventually. A bit of malt and hops in the nose. Nice flavor with just a touch of malt and a refreshing finish. Wow!

An impressive pop of the the cork & pours a golden color, slightly hazy with a lovely thick white head. Pretty aroma, all that hop & malty goodness. Lots of carbonation to keep the mouth interested. And very nice flavor, darker than I expected. I this think this beer is one of my favorites. Excellent!

This brewery is the one that lies very near the original brewery of westvleteren.

The blond version is so wonderfull and better then the brown in my opion. BETTER THAN A LOT OF TRAPPIST.

The flavor melt together as one and there is enough sharpness that makes it interesting. You me even speak of e certain funk that hits your tongue. Fine beer!

One of my favorite Tripels. The first time I bought this beer it came withe glasses. Split the small bottle between two glasses. Amazing presentation with long lasting head retention.

Pours slightly hazy golden with finger of white foam. Aromas of bread, apples, banana, and sugar. Flavors follow the nose, with a nice bready sweetness of malt and candi dominating amongst ripened fruit. Sometimes this style goes a little sour for me... not this one. Clean finish with a slightly sweet yeasty finish. Very smooth despite high carbonation. Good stuff

Tripel - 8% - 330ml bottle – Best Before 28.08.17

Appearance: Golden, clear, ale with a perfectly white head - 4 fingers, dropping to half quite quickly. Medium to high levels of carbonation. One thing I noticed was just how much yeast has been added for the bottle conditioning of this beer when the bottle is held up to the light, and yet it all stays at the bottom of the bottle enabling you to pour a perfectly clear beer into the glass – this is a real ‘testament’ to the water used in the brewing process.

Aroma: Strong notes of juicy oranges, straw, some classic hop aromas, other sweet, ripe fruits including apple and fresh pears. Spices from the yeast. Very nice.

Taste: Sweet apple and oranges upfront straight away and this lasts all the way through with the yeast coming in the middle and then giving way to a very brief second where the alcohol is just detectable (very well hidden though, and certainly doesn't drink like an 8% brew) then we're back with the sweetness for a very long, pleasant finish. Not bitter at all. The yeast strain can be easily identified as St. Bernardus – the old Westvleteren yeast.

Mouth feel: Smooth and gentle, not dry or bitter at all. Very neutral as in not dry, not oily.

Overall: A world class tripel, easily on a par with Westmalle which is widely considered to be the bench mark for the style. Perfectly balanced, must buy more! 10 / 10.

S: Apple cider, some lemon peel, grassy hops, cloves, and Belgian yeast, quit inviting aroma

T: Lemon, cloves, some pepper and grassy hops with some malt sweetness. Has a light bitterness at the end, no hint of the higher a very. Lots going on here, but it all works well together.

F: Light body, slightly under carbonated, fairly dry finish.

O: A really awesome tripel
