Pours a very clightly cloudy golden yellow color with a two inch, well retained white head that left tons of lacing. Smells of classic Belgian yeast, sweet malts and spices. Tastes of sweet malts, Belgian yeast, cloves, banana, bread and an overall sweetness that is unique to this beer. Well carbonated, light to medium bodied, smooth mouth feel.

This one pours a beautiful golden-light-brown with a 3 finger head and a bowl full of lacing. The head dissipates slowly......The smell is grassy, yeast and sweetness. The first sip is an eye-opener with this tripel bringing some funky barnyard grassiness comparable to Orval.... There is breadiness, light malts with notes of candie sweetness, that finishes with a hint of tartness and a helping of bitterness and spiciness to boot. A dryer finish would have been perfect, but St Bernardus is often only medium-carbonated regardless of the style. In this case, it could have used a real zip of a finish to go along with that nice spiciness and bitter finish. Still, very potable.

Pours a vibrant but cloudy yellow, solid 1" of white tightly formed head, does phenomenal in the retention department. A very sexy looking beer. Aroma is a blast of alcohol, phenolic yeast and spice rack.

Taste is also hot, plenty of plastic feels from the yeast. Tons of biscuit breadiness, the color of the beer doesn't convey how viscous a yellow beer can be. Some apple and banana notes in the mouth feel. A little bit of bitterness not evoking the traditional source of hops for its existence. Well carbonated and a slight pepper spiciness.

Interesting beer, better than your average tripel, a style I often don't get into but can respect.

This beer pours a pale gold with a large head. The aroma features many classic notes - clove, nutmeg, banana, lemon juice, french bread, lemongrass, thyme, and anise. The flavor was clove heavy, with banana, bubblegum, thyme, carrot, and green. The savory notes were subtle, but unusual. The mouthfeel was fairly light with lots of foamy carbonation. Overall this is a nice Tripel with a lighter body, and some unusual but very pleasant highlight flavors.
