Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy, beige color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell has lots of citrus, touches of pine. Taste is citrus, pine, light malts, medium bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a flavorful and enjoyable beer.

Pours a clear light yellow golden color with white head. Citrus, floral notes, and just a slim bit of pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light to medium bodied. Finishes with more citrus.

A: Poured a golden yellow color with a small white cap, minimal bubbles and no lacing to speak of

S: Light citrsus and some breadiness

T: There is a nice breadiness upfront with citrus and very light pine resin emerging as I swallow. The ber has a nice, balanced feel and taste with a light to moderate bite on the end. Rather clean and enjoyable

M: Medium bodied, perhaps a tad bit undercarbonated and a light slickness

O: A pretty drinkable IPA

Served in a pint glass on-tap at the Silvertron. From notes. Reviewed 19 August 2011.

A: Nice finger of head, creamy and tight. Clearish copper colour with faint bubbles within. Pretty beer that glows in the light. Great lacing.

S: Fantastic! I can smell grapefruit from across the table. Strong, pungent hops that grow gentler with exposure, providing a rewarding depth of scent. This is what an IPA should smell like; brilliant.

T: Good, if...quirky. The hops are recognizable, even if I can't put my finger on them. Chinook? Fuggles? (Very different hops, I realise, but the website confirms that Battlefield uses a blend of English and American hops.) Less citrusy than expected, with a strong hop presence that is astringently bitter (but not unpleasantly so) and has a slightly vegetal feel. A little bit like chewing on mild hops. The aftertaste is lingering and bitter. The beer is mildly balanced, but obviously hop-heavy.

M: Great combination of smooth-tingly and dry-wet. Really nice.

O: A surprisingly excellent IPA for Birmingham, Alabama. Superficially similar to Birmingham's Good People IPA, but less balanced and more intense. I have hope for Alabama's brewing scene. Definitely recommended. Will seek out to have again.

Poured from the can into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly cloudy golden amber with a medium sized white head. The aroma is full of citrus and piney hops. The taste matches the aroma.

12 ounce can poured into a snifter. No canned on date unfortunately.

Cloudy gold and amber body. Frothy and sudsy pale white head. Shows good persistence. 4.5

Very nice nose here. Mosaic? Cuz I'm getting all types of melon and mango and passionfruit. Fruity for sure. Sweet fruitiness with a touch of malt and pine and floral qualities. Outstanding aroma. 4.5

Damn! This tastes a bit dated, but there's some great potential here. Melon and mango meet a biscuity, toasted malt flavor and floral bitter flavor. Lemony flavors emerge with some warmth. I'm enjoying these flavors aside from feeling a tad roasted malt heavy. 4

There's a good amount of juiciness, mellow bitterness, medium but light body and a refreshing quality. A bit of toasted malt feel and zest are a bit distracting from the smoothness, but otherwise this beer is great. 3.75

A pleasant surprise. I'm a fan. Glad I have one more can.
