Notes: Two-row malt, meet Nelson Sauvin and Citra. Fast friends indeed. As sleek as a 9% DIPA can be with the sharp hop tone of lemon peels filled in by orange marmalade and just utter dankness. And you thought those tankers off-shore were just unloading crude...

This is not for the timid beer drinker. Must have some experience in big DIPA's. This beer is exactly as it means to be, a tanker of hops!! With a blast of hops and a meaty malt backbone to back-up the 9.2 abv this beer promises to dry-dock your steamboat for sure. Love Life, Drink Fresh!!

Pours a clear golden yellow with frothy white head. Smell is slightly sweet with citrus and mango. Taste is juicy tropical hops, grapefruit zest, and a little white wine and weed from the Nelson. The 9% shows a bit at the back. Sweet malts. Mouthfeel is quite dry with a good amount of carbonation. Bitterness might be a little overpowering. Overall a really great DIPA. Citra and Nelson Sauvin work amazingly well here.

Bottle shared with stillmatic2232.

Pours a golden dark orange, with a 3/4 inch head, and some good lacing down the glass.

Smells quite citrusy, lots of orange and grapefruit, some slight malt as well.

Great taste. Some pine and bitter grapefruit, some sweet juicy orange, and a nice lingering bitterness. There is a bit of malt that struggles to make a presence, of the toasty and slightly sweet caramel variety.

Medium bodied, crisp, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Very drinkable.

A nice little surprise, this was very tasty. The bottle was about 2 months old and seemed to still be quite bright, juicy, and hop-forward.

22 oz. bomber poured into New Belgium globe glass.

A: Radiant orange with very little head and some slightly visible carbonation.

S: A ton of citrusy hops. Tropical notes are very predominant: grapefruit, orange and even some mango.

T: Holds true to its fantastic aroma -- citrusy and piney flavors are overwhelming (and delicious). "Hop tanker" is quite accurate, as this beer packs on the hop bitterness and fruity notes in equal measure.

M: Medium-bodied, yet manages to have a sticky, warm finish. Not much carbonation-wise, but probably for the best to get that full hop resin feel.

O: Among my favorite Double IPAs in Los Angeles -- it's a well balanced IPA that hangs with some of the best DIPAs I've had anywhere. While they're obviously best fresh (I've had at the brewery as well as off the shelf from the liquor store), you really can't go wrong with this excellent and very reasonably priced beer.
