Appearance: A beautiful rocky and voluminous head with very nice retention and sticky, thick lacing. Copper with touches of gold in color.

Nose: Huge fresh hops jump right out. Cascade and Simcoe with pineapple, papaya, blueberries, tropical fruits, mango, with some pine in the middle.

Taste: Very nice malt balance with hop bitterness taking over in such a welcoming way. The malt is beautiful. It's almost perfect. It is not too syrupy, but does it's job in balancing out the copious amounts of hops. Mouthfeel is fantastic. I'm impressed.

Notes: If I read this correctly, the date stamp says 12-29-14, and today is the 5th of January. I'm guessing this is some of the reason why I'm loving this stuff so much.

A: Copper tinted amber with a slight chill haze under an off-white 2” frothy foam collar that grips the side of the glass leaving thin sheets of lace.
S: Tropical fruit, citrus, berry, herbal notes.
T: Big malt backbone with caramel topped with citrusy, piney, tropical fruit hops.
M: Creamy smooth, medium to a little above on the body, medium carbonation.
O: Big tropical scented hop forward double IPA.

"I lost my wallet in El Segundo, I lost my wallet in El Segundo!" Kinda true, if I were hurting for cash...

New West Coast DIPA I've never had. Excited for this one based on previous reviews. Was Told at K&L Liquor, Redwood City where I bought this, that it's a brand new beer they just started carrying, and that it should be very fresh. No Bottle on date. Range of 8% DIPA's I've found to be my sweet spot with this style...

A - A bit darker than your standard WC DIPA, copper, dark orange colored, head sticks around for a quick second and lacing does what it should. Not much activity going on. A wee bit above average.

S - Malt is there backing up the hops. Smells as if both are in almost equal parts, but I was hoping for more of a hop forward, fresh citrus aroma. Nothing really separates this from the run of the mill West Coast DIPAs in this department.

T - Mirrors the smell. Not a bad beer by any means, but nothing memorable either. Some oranges, grapefruit and a very solid malt backbone backing this all up, but nothing making this unique at all. Just a good DIPA, nothing more, nothing less. Higher scores from me if the citrus was more vibrant, and brighter.

M - My Favorite part of the beer. Creamy, smooth, but somehow, dry. Nice, but just a wee bit less malt would be appreciated. Complete opposite preference from an East Coaster I'd imagine. Subjective.

O - For the record, this did not impact my scoring of this beer AT ALL, although the next few comments will make you think otherwise, but whatever.... I'm actually offended that this bomber costs $8.99. I'm offended Sculpin does as well, and at a "World Class" level. Here's where this new brewery will have problems. We will pay for this bomber once at this price, just try it or "tick" it. But at the end of the day, we will never pay that premium for this beer ever again...quite honesty because it's non-memorable, and there's plenty of better DIPAs out there, and at a MUCH better price.

Had this on tap at Zimmzys in Belmont Shore. It pours a beautiful sunset orange with a dense one inch cap of bright white foam that sticks to my glass as I get into this. The nose on this brew is absolutely amazing, it reeks of Citra and Simcoa hops, dense rich citrus fruits, tropical fruits, some nice mineral notes to balance things out, insanely delicious nose. The flavor profile steps right in, the buds are infused with mango, tangerine, nectarine, and lemon and lime pulp.A bit of sweet apricot jam infused with biscuit notes and sea salt balance it all out in a gorgeous mouth full of West Coast IPA 101. The mouth is fresh, a bit resinous, which it should be with all the drippings from the pine, but it leaves dry and requires another quaff immediately.
What a great find. The fact they are 35 minutes away is better, I plan on tasting their lineup in its entirety soon. If you love KRBC Citra, Alpine Nelson, or are just a fan of tropical/citrus forward West Coast IPA/DIPA then this is right up your alley. Great stuff !

Appearance: Copper with a reddish hue. Eggshell head with nice foam that settled to a half finger. Fair amount of lace. Translucent with a minor amount of carbonation visible.

Smell: The nose has sweeter hop of notes mango and pine, but has a nice tart grapefruit presence as well. There is a sweeter malt note of caramel.

Taste: Sweeter hop notes of mango and pine. Finishes with more familiar bitter hop notes of grapefruit. The malt is there, but provides just the right amount of back to the beer.

Mouthfeel: Mild carbonation. Smooth. Slight tingle.

Overall: This is a strong IPA.. Sweeter notes of fruit that become enveloped by bitter hop notes of grapefruit and pine. Sweet and bitter at the same time. Mild malt back that is just the right amount. Highly drinkable and flavorful.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a bright amber with a thick white head.

Lemon and tangerine on the aroma, not much malt present.

Taste is nicely balanced between "second wave" herbal dank citrus hops and a sweet malt.

Nicely balanced IPA>
