341ml bottle, from Wild Rose's new open-sixer packaging, and their first straight-up lager, it would seem. Named for a (somewhat) infamous formerly bar-laden strip in downtown Calgary, also known as 11th Ave SW, now a more mature kind of neighbourhood.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and even a bit creamy bone-white head, which leaves some decent dissipating cloud lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of grainy, crackery pale malt (slightly biscuity, too) - dry apple, and mild grassy, earthy hops. The taste is more of the same - biscuity, bready pale malt, a hint of white pepper, dried apples and pears, a touch of gritty yeast, and leafy, earthy, and softly grassy hops. Simple, but in a damned agreeable manner.

The carbonation is fairly crisp, and perhaps a bit tight, the body medium-light in weight, and a tad astringent in its otherwise plain smoothness. It finishes just a smidgen off-dry, the belaboured fruit and malt sweetness hardly apt at keeping up with the strong overall drying trend.

An easy-drinking, pleasantly-flavoured, and equitably enjoyable lager, not the usual focus for yer (above) average microbrewery, but it's nice to see it done anyways. This may still cost a buck or so more than the 'premium' domestics, but a loonie is a small price to pay for such a jump in quality, character, and, oh, your very soul.

It tastes like a lager tastes. It's better than a macro lager. It's not nearly as sweet or carbonated as most macro lagers tend to be. However, that said - there's nothing stand out here.

Pours golden yellow with massive white head. Retention is very good for a lager. Nose earthy and yeasty, somewhat fruity, but overall pretty faint and not extremely exciting. Taste- a lot better then smell. Bittersweet upfront with citrusy and grainy notes. It is on the sweeter side, enjoyable beer. Good carbonation, fairly smooth.
Decent lager from Wild Rose - very solid brewery, not my favorite, but I would definitely have it again and would absolutely offer it to my macro-drinking friends.

341ml bottle with pry off cap poured in a pint glass. Purchased at Andrew Hilton's Wine Shop in Lethbridge, AB.

Pours a clear golden colour with a bright white head 3/4 inch high. Head recedes to a thin cap with lots of lacing down the sides.

Aroma is very grainy... almost cereal like. Not inspiring.

Flavour is all grains. There's a little hint of cooked veggies. Pretty macro-ish.

Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Move along... nothing to see here.

Appearance - Pours a pale amber gold with a finger of foamy white head.

Smell - toasted grains, biscuity malts, touch of grass/hay, floral hop.

Taste - toasted grains, biscuity malts followed by the grass/hay flavour and a slight bitterness from the floral hops.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry along with the lingering flavour of malts.

Overall - A refreshing and simple lager with a sessionable quality. Pretty standard in regards to style but is a an easy go to at a pub/restaurant.

341ml bottle poured into tulip 2/7/14

A clear golden yellow with a few slow bubbles here and there, a big three fingers of foam sits around for a few sips before falling, not much for lace

S yeasty, grass, apple, faint spice, some cracker and a hint of citrus

T metallic notes, doughy, not far from the smell, not a whole lot going on really

M light, crisp, slick on the palate, bubbles soften it up a bit, yeasty finish

O nothing special but a drinkable lager and something safe for the masses

I'd take this over big name macros any day but it wouldn't be my first pick out of Wild Rose's lineup

Appearance: Golden colour, clear, with a fluffy head that fades quickly with some lacing.
Smell: Malt, wheat (or something similar), and pine hops.
Taste: Malty, slightly bitter. Very crisp and has a nice hit of pine hops with a bit of flower on the finish.
Overall: Very refreshing and surprisingly interesting for the style. I am not much of a lager guy, but this is definitely my favourite.
