I'll join the chorus that's saying they have no earthly idea what compelled Wild Rose to release this beer as a *winter* seasonal. But that shouldn't take away from how much I like it.

Pours a pasty apple juice yellow, not much head (mostly carbonation, recedes quickly). Lots of visible carbonation. Smells tart, slightly milky, slightly sweet, and with leafy lime citrus twang. Taste is much the same: fairly aggressive carbonation, it goes down slightly tart (like Sour Patch kids or Sour Skittles) and with a lime backbone, slightly salty, almost like a lager/lime Gatorade blend (but better than that combo sounds). Light body.

Very refreshing. Very crisp. This is what a lot of radlers want to be, I think. Or maybe what Bud Light Lime could be, if Bud Light Lime wasn't terrible. Hopefully Wild Rose comes to its senses and rotates this into spring/summer availability, because I would love to gulp these by the six-pack on a hot, sunny Calgary day.

341ml bottle, a kettle soured beer, flavoured with kaffir lime leaves. Interesting, to say the least.

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy bone-white head, which leaves some roiling sea froth lace around the glass as it evenly recedes.

It smells of gritty, grainy pale malt, a touch of yeasty sourness, saltine crackers, a weird vegetal lime thing, earthy mint, and further bitter floral and herbal notes. The taste is tart, well, yeast, I'm guessing, a sort of white cheesy and tamely funky sourness, zippy lime rind, grainy and over-salted bready and crackery malt, and more leafy, herbal, and floral hop bitterness.

The carbonation is adequately fizzy for the style at hand, the body a decent medium weight, and actually sort of smooth, in an airy, ephemeral sense, that is. It finishes off-dry, the fruitiness of the lime starting to make a late-game move, in conjunction with the lingering crackery malt, and a lessening of the overall yeasty tartness.

Not a bad sour brew, I gotta say - nice and tart, in an indistinctly fruity manner, without much in the way of any attendant funk or mustiness. Easy to drink, even refreshing (the lime leaves, again), and another good sign of the adventurous and capable brewing prowess on display at this Cowtown operation.

341ml bottle poured into tulip 15/1/16

A bright yellow with a slight haze and several streams of bubbles feeding finger of foam that fls fst and leaves no lace

S salty mineral water, faint sulfur, herbal lime tea, some citrus, almost an off white wine thing going on but it somehow works, different but good

T earthy wet stone, still has a salty mineral water thing going on, lime rind, somewhat tart and sour but mild, interesting for sure

M light bodied, enough bubbles to give it some life, sour but not over the top, a little slick and it sinks down in no time, very refreshing and easy to drink

O I could see this going well with a hot patio, super easy to smash this stuff back, something different from my local and enough going on to make me want another

Kinda odd brew for Wildrose to add to their regular lineup but I liked it and could see this working its way into my Summer rotation.

"What we need, is more cowbell!" I can see myself saying this several times this summer, because this is one refreshing beer. I am not a huge fan of sours, but this particular brew hits the mark, thanks to the lime and understated tart. I've been pondering a pint of this for a while, and I'm glad I finally took the plunge.

A mild sour that is enjoyable and easy to drink. There isn't a lot going on other than a tart finish. I can see buying it again if I'm looking for something a little different.

341ml bottle poured into tulip.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a thin cap of white head that leaves melting icicle lace as it recedes.

Smells of mildly salty crackers, sour citrus zest and mild leafy hops.

Tastes of more salty cracker malt, sour lime juice, soft white cheesy funk and more mild hops.

Feels light and fizzy. Light bodied with peppy carbonation. Finishes off-dry.

Verdict: Recommended. Really good thirst quencher.

This was my first introduction to sour beer. I wasn't quite sure what to expect at first but was pleasantly surprised. Think of sour apple juice with some tangy lime notes, that's more or less what you're getting here... fairly light and refreshing (super fun bottle btw, loved the SNL references on the back)!
