This is the best Black IPA I've ever had. Black beer with a beige head. Smells of roast, pine, and chocolate. Huge flavor of chocolate roastiness. Great hop bitterness. I was overall very impressed with this beer.

Aroma is pine, dark malts and a hint of mint. The flavor is grapefruit, hop resin, tangy notes and a mild/medium spicy/heat finish.

A - Dark black, slight transparency on the edges, with a huge rocky head of light tan, that fades very slowly. Massive lacing.

S - A hint of pine and malts, a slight sourness, but overall somewhat closed.

T - A subtle pine element, grapefruit, a strong roasty malt quality, and a smoothly bitter finish. Like the nose, this is a somewhat closed beer, with a end that drops off quickly.

M - A bit light, but also a strange coating quality that might come from low carbonation by the time the head fades.

O - It is possible that the one I had was on the edge of infection, given how the head formed and the slightly odd flavor profile. That said, the drinking experience was not bad, and the beer avoided the uber-hop trap that a lot of black ales fall into, where the bitterness goes off the scales.

Had as part of a flight. Beautiful dark brown color and two finger off white head. Creamy mouthfeel, roasted and hoppy. Another solid Greenbush entry, love what these guys are doing.
