On draft at Farmhouse, served in a 12 oz. Duvel-esque glass.

Appears black with tawny brown edges in the dim light, rusty auburn and opaque when backlit. Ample head of tan foam, lacing some initially. Lasting retention, fades to a thin broken skim.

Yeasty phenolics, some apple sweetness and spiciness, caramelized sugars.

Bitter earthy taste, a little toasty, finishing dry. Alcohol isn't completely hidden, mouthfeel is a little rough with coarse carbonation and slight alcohol presence. Overall its warming on a cool night, and pretty good flavor wise, but not one i'd seek out again.

Bottle shared with Jason after the long drive from Chicago to Detroit. Served in a flute.

A - Quick-dissolving off-white foam settles to a partial ring of bubbles. Transparent amber-brown body with visible bubbles streams. No cap, lace, etc.

S - This is very much a brown ale in character, but with Belgian yeast. Plenty of chocolate, nuts, caramel, as well as some mild phenolic yeast notes.

T - The taste is even more overtly brown ale, with only mild Belgian yeast influence. Toasty malts, chocolate, nuts, and lightly sugary notes, as well as some bread and yeast character.

M - Smooth, medium body, with moderate carbonation. A tough gritty, with a chewy finish. Alcohol is better hidden than in the 1825.

D - A fairly successful hybrid of English Brown and Belgian Strong Ale. I enjoyed this significantly more than the 1825 and would drink this one again if I saw it on-tap.

A: Slightly transparent black. Light tan lacing.

S: Sweet caramelized sugar, coffee.

T: Sweet dark fruit, coffee, dark chocolate, malts, slight burnt sugar bitterness and alcohol in the finish.

M: Smooth, clean with medium high carbonation and a mild alcohol burn in the finish.

O: Nice unique Belgium Strong Ale. Lots of good flavor.

A - Pours a very deep amber with nice foamy creamy tan head. Head has good retention and leaves a bit of lacing.

S -- The nose is pretty big on dark fruits and Belgian yeast smells kind of sweet really good nose on this one.

T -- Sweet up front like some sort of sugar you also get the qualities of a Belgian style with the yeast. In the backbone there is more Dark Fruits really nice taste.

M -- Medium bodied nice carbonation

O - Overall a nice Belgian styled beer really enjoyed it. I think Greenbush has a very diverse lineup and this is probably one of my favorite ones that I've had from them. I would try this one again really good stuff coming out of this brewery.

A - Pours a very deep amber with three fingers of creamy tan head. Head has good retention and leaves a bit of lacing.

S -- Candi sugar, nice dark fruits, some Belgian yeast, a bit of chocolate. The brewery describes this as a hybrid Belgian ale. I'm assuming they mean a hybrid between a dubbel and a bsda based on the aroma.

T -- Candi sugar up front, with Belgian yeast, some chocolate and dark dried fruits. A bit of spice leads into a rather dry, slightly bitter finish. Nice.

M -- Medium slightly sticky mouthfeel with a semi-dry finish.

O - An interesting and tasty Belgian style ale. Greenbush seems to have a good handle on some diverse styles, which is a good foundation for a new brewery. I look forward to trying more from them.
