Pours languidly into a tumbler glass, hard to generate much of a head, but there was about an eighth of an inch there momentarily. Foam quickly subsides, leaving a thin ring around the edges, no lacing. Tawny amber orange color, somewhat hazy.

Bubblegum and clove aromas, kind of a stereotypical "Belgian" aroma.

Spicy flavors, big on the phenolics, lasting clove in the aftertaste, low level pepper bitterness. Viscous body, low carbonation. Not a fan of the mouthfeel, a bit slick and coating, needs more carbonation. Overall not a total waste, it's not deeply flawed, just not appealing to personal taste. However i'm not sure about finishing it.

Thanks for this one Eric!

A: A murky brown color with a tan head.

S: Caramel sweetness, with rough alcohol, light clove, and the smell of unfermented extract wort. Fruity finish with apricot and more clove.

T: A caramel malt mess. Lots of fruit, but mixed in is an almost burnt caramel flavor, and it's not great. Raisins, and cloves show up in a cloying finish

M: Medium thick, with fairly active carbonation. An odd slickness in the finish.

O: Overall this is a malt bomb mess for me. The Belgian character and the malt don't go well together for me. The bottle says it is a Belgian style golden ale with a little something special. No mention to whatever that special thing is, but this brew is a big miss for me. This is only the second beer from this brewery that I have had, and both have been real rough.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new beer to me from Greenbush Brewing Co., this one listed as a Belgian Strong Pale Ale.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a dark burnt orange colored body with some nice sediment floating in the glass. Three fingers of beige foam for a head that falls to about a finger. Fat spotty lacing. For some reason, I thought it would be lighter in color, but it looks very nice.

S - Smell is comprised of the usual suspects - candied caramel maltiness, Belgian yeast, banana, clove, dough, pepper. A simple, yet pleasant aroma.

T - The taste follows the nose - candied sugars, caramel, green apple, pear, banana, white grape. Lots of lovely yeast derived fruitiness on this one. It's very nice, but I was hoping for more grassy / herbal flavors. No alcohol heat or burn; the 9.30% abv is extremely well hidden.

M - The feel is slightly heavy. Dry on the finish. Medium-full bodied with good carbonation. Some lingering fruitiness / stickiness on the palate. Very easy drinking for the high abv.

Overall, a nicely done but average representation of the style from Greenbush. Doesn't really bring anything new or exciting to the table, but it's certainly enjoyable and very drinkable.
