Amber colored beer with an orangeish head. Has a smell of nutmeg, cinnamon, and ripe banana. Taste is bitter and the combination of of spices is pretty harsh. Textbook example of what happens when too many spices are used. Too bad the beer isn’t as good as its name.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2013 bottling. Pours moderately cloudy orange copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, caramel, pear, toast, and herbal earthiness. Ok aromas with solid complexity and balance of malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with decent strength. Taste of pumpkin, sourdough bread, ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel, toast, floral, and herbal earthiness. Light earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, sourdough bread, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, caramel, toast, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Decent flavor balance and complexity of malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with a solid malt/spice balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a decent pumpkin ale. Flavor profile is weird at first; but smooths out a bit after the first sip. A bit of flavor astringency as well, but I had no problem finishing the glass.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new beer to me from Greenbush Brewing Co., expectations are fairly high since I've enjoyed what I've tried from them so far. Nice bottle art, and my bottle claims a 7.30% abv.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter glass.

A - Pours two fingers of creamy tan head that leaves some nice scattered lacing. Body is a thick, creamy, dark caramel orange with some dark sediment in the glass. Looks pretty nice for the style.

S - Smell is different than most other pumpkin beers I've come across. Fresh earthy pumpkin / gourds, buttered popcorn, brisk cola, and some dusty yeast funk. Slightly strange smelling for a pumpkin beer, but I'm liking it.

T - Taste follows the nose - earthy pumpkin / gourd, buttered popcorn, mild alcohol heat, some indistinct herbal qualities, and some cream.

M - Feel is full, smooth, and creamy, with some herbal bitterness lingering on the palate. More full-bodied than your average pumpkin ale, which makes for a nice sipper. Good carbonation.

Overall, a solid pumpkin ale from Greenbush. Definitely one of the more unique and memorable takes on the style that I've tried this year. Slightly higher than normal abv, and a fuller thicker body makes this one a nice sipper. Recommended.
