Drank 11/16/23. Bottle appears to be dated 11/21/14??
Pour is inky black with a khaki head, decent retention for a big beer. Fades to a little ring around the glass
Nose seems a bit muted - hints of bourbon, latte, sweet caramel
Taste is bourbon, port?, coffee with cream, hint of raisin, roasted malts. seems to have a bit of oxidization, but not terribly unpleasant.
Dense, creamy, chewy mouth feel.

Bottle courtesy of JohnnyHops.
I think it’s a 2017.
Very reminiscent of a bourbon county brand stout.
Same chocolate, vanilla, oaky bourbon character in the nose and taste.
Thick but not too thick, slight bourbon burn but mostly smooth.

This is like a poor answer BA expedition stout. Its so similar its uncanny. Slightly less WOW factor with each sip though. If i drank it blind and you told me it was BA expo I'd believe you.

This is a review of delusion barrel aged imperialism al cream stout. Slightly different than just delusion. Heavily dark brown with khaki cream 1/4” head that disappears quickly. Smells dark too like toffee and caramel. Taste is smooth and sips like coffee with cream. A little cocoa in there too. Aftertaste is very coffee roasted flavor. Mouthfeel is medium thick and full of tiny effervescence. Overall this is a good brew if you like coffee and cream.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This beastly little brew pours a
rugged brownish black with a nice head of tan foam that settles to
a thick ring, thin swirling layer, and sports some subtle lacing. Nose
of dark coffee, dark sweet chocolate, and strong astringent booze with
some rum notes. Flavors exceed the nose by presentation with a rum
and cola note over a bed of coffee and dark chocolate with sweet cream
and astringent booze with some dark breaded malt notes. Very nice
mouth feel; medium full body, medium light carbonation that gives
needed lift, and a medium to full on sweet finish that falls short
of a "dessert" brew.
Overall---excellent for a hybrid!
Cheers

Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Strong bourbon aroma with a hint of chocolate. Bourbon comes through in the taste but it has a nice smooth delivery. Good mouth feel. This one was on my "beers to look for" list and I'm glad I finally got a chance to try it.

12oz bottle. No date. Poured into a pint glass.
Pour: deep black with a two finger tan head. Lots of foamy clouds, big lacing upfront but faded fairly quickly.
Nose: sweet cream, hint of bourbon,
Taste: sweet cream, malts, bitter coffee/dark chocolate, bourbon, black licorice.
Mouthfeel: moderate carbonation. A little thin, similar to Guinness, pretty clean finish.
Overall: interesting but sweet cream, typical of a double cream stout, isn’t my favorite. Contrast with bitter hops//coffee/chocolate seems weird. Didn’t finish, not my thing, won’t buy again.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. No clue as to how old the bottle is as there is no date stamp on it. This beer really shines as it warms: smooth, creamy of course and the alcohol is fairly subtle. Worthy of its world-class rating.

Thanks to FlintB for this 12 oz. bottle, though after having to clear my palate with steel wool, I should have followed with something tried & true. But hey, I’m not that bright.
The pour is dark enough that nothing bleeds even through the edges, with a nose of sugar-splattered leather & just a hint of barrel.
Delusion is like a virus. The beer, thankfully, is not, & lowers a boom of large flavors: lots of half-and-half, char, bourbon, baking chocolate, with a finish of green hops & black licorice. Drinks lighter than the ABV & correspondingly easy to drink.
Normally cream ales + barrel don’t work for me, but the combo here is like the unexpected joy of Pride & Prejudice (PBS version only). Very good beer.

Medium black body with white swirling lacing on surface. Smells strongly of whiskey, tobacco and dark chocolate. Taste is exceptionally dark, heavy and complex. Great tobacco, whiskey, wood, dark chocolate, leather, smoke, rye, coffee, dried dark fruit, and through the sip a progressively stronger vanilla cream. Robust and chewy body with some creaminess.

Bottled 11/20/14; drank 1/6/15 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
Dark khaki head; a curtain of lace.
Bourbon, oak, cream & milk chocolate nose.
Medium thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Milk chocolate & cream flavors up front; bourbon & oak notes in the finish. Marshmallow notes emerged as this warmed; oddly, the booze notes receded!
Nicely balanced & complex; an excellent brew.
