This is the mate to "Femme Fatale" that I had a couple of weeks ago. Pour is not real inspiring, a flat brown ale. No lacing.

Aroma is a pleasant surprise, as it is a mix of caramel and hops, much more inviting than the appearance.

The taste is good, with a smoky caramel the majority contributor.

Mouthfeel is a little weak, but not bad.

Not a bad beer, but no match for its sister from the same brewery.

Bottle cap labeled 15 March 2013. An attractive brown with a hint of red, like a murky, sedimented an carbonated ice tea, under a (briefly) rocky, sabayon-colored head. Smells of sawdust, forest greenery, some toffee, banana, a bit of magic marker -- evaporating alcohol, even in a not hugely strong brew? -- that fortunately blew off after getting some air in the tulip glass. Malty attack is mainly a flat sweetness, little roastiness, with a root-beer-like (not all the wag to puckering) sourness. Some cherry, mint and chocolate started to emerge after a few sips, improving things. Still, I'm surprised after the fact to see the label mention spices. Mouthfeel is thinner than my eye anticipated, a bit astringent, well carbonated.

This beer is underrated. It has a beautiful smokey, malty taste, a rich smell, hints of oak. It has a lot of flavour and aroma, maybe more than a typical bruin, but it really does deliver.

33cl into a tulip. Pours a ruddy dishwater cola, minor head even with encouragement, what remained subsided quickly, minor lacing.

Aroma is of subdued unidentifiable brown fruit with something tart or wild nearby.

Taste offers decent complexity with a grape skin tartness being the defining element. Vinous qualities come out as it pleasantly warms. Peculiar hint of cinnamon appears as the aftertaste fades. Thin to medium creamy mouthfeel.
