This brew was served on tap at Nano Brew in Cleveland, Ohio. Coincidentally, this establishment sits a mere few blocks from Market Garden, where Citramax originates. It appropriately arrived in a Market Garden Brewery tulip glass, showing a clean, shimmering golden coloring. Due to the full pour, only a quarter finger’s worth of a head was produced. This was around only briefly before dissipating into a wispy film and serpiginous lacing. No haze or sediment was noted, but it wasn’t crystal clear either. Carbonation appeared to be light. The aroma included notes of fusel booze, glue adhesive, a tropical and domestic fruity blend of apricot, mango, plantains, cantaloupe, and strawberries, light bubblegum esters, Thai basil and mints, gentle herbal hops combating a bold core of citric, herbal, and piney hoppiness, mango butter, remoulade sauce, and lemon cleaner, especially with warmth. The flavoring came through beautifully, with heavy citric hop oils, piney and soapy hoppiness, toasty pale malts, raw wheat and simple barley, tannic breakfast tea, honey sweetness, pineapple fruit juiciness, buttery diacetyls, phenolic plastic bite, and vanilla bean. As the beer warmed, and through the aftertaste, we perceived much more slick bitterness of piney and grapefruity hoppiness, along with fresh honeydew melon fruitiness that both balanced and softened the blend. The body was medium to full, and the carbonation was medium to high. Slurp and smack were okay, with bolstered froth and cream on the swirl around the mouth. This lent more muster to the prickle as well. The mouth was left with an oily coating that gave way to crisp dryness uniformly. The abv was appropriate, and the beer was very easy drinking.

Overall, this beer had a fantastic taste. Absolutely fantastic. Everything about it was so fresh, zesty, and remarkably bright, especially through the flavoring. Again, we felt a bit funny sitting two doors down from the brewery itself and reviewing it, but we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to swill this true local gem. This is one of those beers that changes with every sip, and with every tick of internal temperature elevation. As detailed above, this was true through the aroma and taste for sure, but more surprisingly so, we felt this across the mouthfeel. It seemed to become thicker and heartier the more you sat on it. This slows the drinker down just a touch, but expertly so, so as to allow for you to appreciate all of this beer’s wondrous intricacies. This is definitely a treat, and one well worth seeking out if you find yourself in the area.

A: bright golden nice looking

S: citra hops fruity citrusy

T: initial bitterness tapers to a nicely balanced fruitiness that doesn't give up until the last drop

M: prickly sticky moves toward smooth

O: might be the best thing I have ever had. Thought it was a zd clone but it just might be better.

Trying Citramax at a Paninis in Cleveland Heights. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent is pine and bitter citrus. The taste follows the scent and leans bitter from start to finish....but still easy to drink. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer and worth a try.

Overall 90/100

Nice and well balanced IPA, real nice balance of malt and hop. Which I find is somewhat rare. Would def seek this out if the opportunity arises. Has a big hop presence that satisfies without being too abrasive~

12 FLUID OUNCE bottle
Served in an IPA glass

This beer pours amber with golden highlights. It is topped with three inches of beige head that leaves some nice rings of lacing.

The smell is citrus and tropical fruit with a little pine.

The taste is more dank than the aroma. The citrus is there along with some pine in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

I liked this beer since the first time I had it on tap at the brewery. It is a very good IPA. It is nice to see it in bottles in my part of the state.

A 12oz. bottle with a fresh by 08/30/17 poured in a 13oz. tulip.

Look- Pours a super clean and transparent copper color leaving two fingers of creamy white foam behind. Heavy lacing is left as it slowly settles.

Smell- Mango, peach, melon and sweet malt.

Taste- Grapefruit, orange zest, mango, floral and a dash of pine.

Feel- Crisp, clean and creamy smooth with a slightly bitter semi dry finish.

Overall- I stopped in Cleveland for lunch recently on my way home from Pittsburgh and had this on tap. I liked it so much that I picked up a six at a local grocery store. A very easy drinking and flavorful IPA at the bargain price of $10.99. I wish I would have bought two! This is something worth checking out if you're in the distribution footprint.
