Notes:
SADIE is an expressive ale that was carefully aged in bourbon barrels for one year. Rich accents of caramel and vanilla are carefully intertwined with delicate notes of oak and toasted oats. This inspired beer is remarkably adventurous and delightfully spirited – just like its namesake.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25
Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a cola brown color capped by quite a head (I received the last pour as the keg kicked) ; decent lacing
Smell: Caramel, bourbon and vanilla, with a hint of coconut
Taste: Much like the aroma, with the oak playing a role in the finish to mellow out the rough edges
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: A first class beer that makes a Wee Heavy impression; the beer spent a year in the barrel and the mellow tones that result make it extremely smooth and enjoyable

On tap at Hollingshead’s in Orange, CA.
You have to think, this is a Dark Ale (and I’m at the bar on Stout day); so it’s a bit thin, a bit discolored... but you know what? It’s like kissing a girl at midnight - I’m into it.
It just has that old age, medieval feel. You know some kings were pounding this style of swill while they were fighting for their liberty.
Good. Not amazing. But I’m still into it.
Yep!

Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers The Festival 2014 held at Crafted in San Pedro, CA.
Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, toffee, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, toffee, caramel, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with solid bourbon barrel aged qualities that work well with the base beer.
Serving type: bottle.
