On tap for the 4th Anniversary event at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and some slight tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same along with some herbal hop and onion-like flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is easy to drink but I think this one smells better than it tastes.

I tried the Laurel at the brewery. It poured a clear orangish with white head that left some lace. The scent and taste had pine and citrus. The Mouthfeel was fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a great offering.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ

Pours a clear amber color with a sticky white head. Intense pine and floral hop aromas. Very resinous and perhaps even a bit herbal. Almost no malt is to be found here. Just a touch of tropical fruit, quite a bit of grapefruit peel. The flavor is quite bitter, moreso than expected. Intense pine, herbal, and resinous hop qualities. Grapefruit peel and maybe a little pineapple on the finish. Again, almost no malt. Medium bodied with medium carbonation and a dry finish.

Had on tap at Long Beach brew pub. Fresh citrusy slight resin IPA. Looked great; but nose was a bit soft. Had to strain a bit to really pick up anything. Flavor spot on... Full, decent citric juiciness with complimentary woody resin strewn in. Nicely balanced. Feel was smooth and refreshing. Overall a well made and very good IPA.
Should add...it followed a Melrose that I loved. For me anyway...the Laurel paled in comparison

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a light amber with a medium white head, some solid lace, good looking beer overall.

S: Quite floral with tropical fruits and honeysuckle. Notes of lemon and light citrus as well.

T: A complex hop flavour, tropicality with notes of herbs and citrus zest. As with the nose quite a floral characteristic, not an attack of bitterness, the hop play here is quite elegant.

M: Medium-bodied, crisp yet smooth carbonation, dry on the finish, medium aftertaste.

O: A really good IPA that seems to get lost in the shuffle of some of Beachwood's other brews like Melrose and Tovarish. Well worth a pint buy.

8/5/2012

On tap at Beachwood Long Beach.

Golden orange with a creamy white cap. Good clarity and nice color. Great retention with scattered sheets of lacing.

Perfumy floral aroma with ample orange and grapefruit flesh. Sweet malt, touch of pine, and a dash of melon.

The flavor is juicy orange flesh with nectarine and a little grapefruit. Lightly sweet malt presence with a smooth medium bitterness. There's some citrus rind in the late palate and a little honeydew melon. Lower medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky and dry.
