Big thanks to robL for the growler. Had hoped to save this to share with friends, but it needs to be drunk! Tasted 9 March 2013, reviewed from notes.

Pours black and thick, deep brown at the edges. Well-carbonated, surprisingly so after a chunk of time in the growler. One and a half fingers of soft mocha medium-tan head. Great retention, good lacing. Really nice.

Smell is darn near perfect for a milk stout. A gentle dark roast, with a bit of woody char, as the base. Dancing in front of that is a delicate milky sweetness. The two pieces are far on the light and dark ends, but they work together fantastically. I get occasional candy notes, dashes of whipped cream. Quite good.

Taste is also really solid, though the two parts don't work together quite as well. In the taste, they overlap more, piling up into a messier blend. The sweetness and lactose are dominant, with the roast mostly buried. Because of that, it's more like drinking wood-flavored cream, which is tasty enough, but kinda odd.

Mouthfeel bounces between the good and the bad sides of milk stout. Sometimes it feels slick and smooth, other times it feels like heavy cream. Gentle carbonation. On balance, it's pretty good.

Lots of things about this beer are gentle, soft, delicate. It drifts from being really well-balanced to overly milky and sweet. Udder Love is an appropriate name, as you need to love milk to love this beer. I like milk, and I like the beer.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black body with some transparency at the edges. Not much of a head. Thin collar and some bubbles at the edges.

Smell - Lots of lactose. Milk chocolate and some light roasted coffee.

Taste - Still lots of lactose, but it has a nice deep chocolate flavor. Flavor drops off in the back and leaves just lactose.

Mouthfeel - Medium light body. Kinda sweet. Well carbonated.

Overall - First beer from Beachwood that hasn't really impressed me. Then again it's a milk stout and I doubt it ever would have.
