Full Malted Jacket is a Scottish-style "wee heavy" ale. Rich, malty, and brewed with heirloom Scottish barley, this beer was aged in sturdy American bourbon barrels for one year. Accents of vanilla and toasted oak meld seamlessly with notes of toffee and caramel.

- 22oz. bomber poured into Lost Abbey Teku on 30-Jul-15
- 4oz. pour off tap @ Beachwood BBQ (Long Beach, CA) into pilsner glass on 1-Jul-15
This is the best barrel-aged scotch ale I've ever had to date. Better than Dirty Bastard and CC BA Big Sound. So smooth and the flavors meld really well. I've only had 8 Buffalo and RLaE, but this is definitely the best BA brew I've had from Beachwood.

Beer poured from a wax dipped twelve ounce bottle. Body is a dark brown with small initial head and no significant lacing during the sampling.
The nose is a light bourbon, a waft of sweet caramel barrel. Inviting!
Taste expands upon the nose to a fuller, but not hot, barrel flavor. Also revealed is a sturdy malt base. Small signs of ABV but nothing approaching its actual percentage.
Mouthfeel is good with nice carbonation and the curt finish expected in a scotch ale.

Batch 007 (released on 5/12/2022, so presumably bottled within a few days of that date); consumed on 9/19/2022
Pours a clear, deep/nearly blood-red ruby/mahogany body capped with a finger and a half of fluffy, sand-hued foam; decent head retention yields a spotty few chunky islands of cap, a rich, creamy collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aromas of bourbon-soaked toffee mesh with peated caramels and hints of cherrywood as orange zest accents prickly oak and light cocoa developing over time.
Taste brings toasty toffee and bready overtones with a light cocoa backing upfront; shades of caramel and hints of cherry mark the mid-palate into an oaky prickle sporting subtle bourbon and wisps of vanilla influence the back end of the profile.
Mouthfeel brings a medium body trending light, with choppy, moderate carbonation leveling to rounded creaminess and silky grit through the mid-palate; a prominent warmth evolves through the back end and fades with a drying finish.
Light, softly interwoven nuance envelopes a base of potent specialty malts, easing bourbon warmth and leaving this weighty, flavorful sipper an entirely approachable entry to the style.

Poured at fridge temp into a large snifter. Pours very dark brown with little head. The nose is amazing. Tons of toffee, malts, almonds, vanilla, a touch of orange, plums, and raisins. The taste follows the nose. Very smooth. Toffee, oak, nuts, bread, very slight grapefruit, orange, a touch of pine, raisins, and vanilla. Really nice. Easy sipper. Despite being 13%, the alcohol is nowhere to be found. Relatively sweet aftertaste, but not too sweet at all. Just a really smooth beer.

Bottle purchased at Beachwood BBQ and Brewery in Long Beach, CA.
This pours a mostly clear light brown, with basically no head or lacing- looks to be very uncarbonated.
Smells like heavy duty bourbon, bitter boozy and fruity, with peat, toffee, and dark fruit.
This is seriously barrel heavy- there's an almost overwhelming level of bourbon here, lots of oak, with a dope vanilla character. This almost feels like it was scotch barrel aged with how peaty it is. There's some slick caramel and brown malt.
This is very boozy- it's a slow supper. The carbonation level is quite low.
This is a bruiser- it's tough to drink but it's worth it.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- deep ruby brown, small bubble white head, reduces to ring around the edge
S- sweet caramel/toffee mixed with roasted malt, spicy bourbon and woody oak
T- sweet caramel and melted toffee up front, followed by woody bourbon barrel, hints of fig and raisin, the finish is more caramel that lingers long after consumption with hints of bourbon sticking around
M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into the finish
O- caramel/toffee mixes with undertones of bourbon and oak, very good

This beer is fantastic!
Had on draft & bottle.
Really smooth barrel presence but the malt back bone is still able to shine thru. I think the base for this is best representation of a beer featuring non hoppy profile. Vanilla & caramel float through the palate, slight bourbon still thru nasal cavity.
This beer is a treat to say the least!

Dark mahogany in color. Vanilla, toffee, sweet malt, brown sugar, marshmallow and oak. Super smooth, lower carb with a medium mouthfeel. Medium short, dry finish. Real good.
