Poured from a 6/6/17 stamped 12oz bottle into a tulip.

It is a glowing gold to orange color. Just slightly opaque. A beautiful thick white foam that has very good retention and leaves some sticky residue behind.

This beer smells phenomenal! I dialed it back from 4.75 just to try to remain objective, because it is right in my wheelhouse. Very dank/pungent hops. If they aren't Mosaic, then they are some killer Citra. A little bit of body odor, medicinal green leaves, guava/stone fruit, grapefruit rind, a bit of pineapple, and a lighter pilsner like grain.

There is a tangy/spicy bite up front with some tropical fruit flavors. Musty/earthy fruit rinds that come across like guava and pink grapefruit with some fermented pineapple. There is also a pink bubble gum note mixed in there. It is followed by some green weed and a little bit of scallions. A lot of lingering piney/florally resin. Fairly aggressive with the hops. Although there is some sweet white bread malt to help out, it is still very bitter.

It has a prickly feel from the hops, but the carbonation is even keeled. Tons of oily resin left on the tongue. Nice amount of body. I would say it feels a bit more like an 8% beer than a 7, but not enough to make you scream imperial by any means.

I love this one. It is a true west coast IPA. That being said, it is not for the faint of hops. Very aggressive. I would say more so than Fat Heads Head Hunter which is toward the top of my list of face ripping IPAs. Not one that I could probably drink 4 or 5 of just because of palate fatigue, but I would probably put it in my top 10 non-imperials off the top of my head. Thanks @lingenbrau

12oz Stubby

Bottled: 6/6/17

Big thanks goes out to Phil for this guy! Cheers, bud! A beauty of a beer, Amalgamator is. Polished brass from top to bottom. A touch of light haze keeps it from being totally clear. A sturdy white crown forms easily on the pour and rises to a finger in height. Some vertical lacing gets left behind over time and a phat ring remains throughout the drink. That's right, phat.

The nose is big on stone fruit. Apricot leads the way. A quick pass of peppery, clean booze hits before blueberry and forest floor dankness kick in. A melange of tropical notes pop up but don't lay out specific fruits. The malt base is simply present to add enough sweetness so the hopping doesn't run away with the show. It's white bread crust all the way. This beer smells absolutely mouthwatering.

The flavor follows the nose pretty closely, though the Mosaic is more pronounced off the bat. Big blueberry and forest dank kicks things off in the most delicious of ways. The aforementioned stone fruits pop up mid palate long with that touch of booze. The booze is ultimately clean and compliments the beverage overall. Crackery, white bread crust makes up the malt base again. Very well done. This is a delicious IPA.

The body is moderate in weight but a lively, nearly prickly carbonation makes it seem very light in nature. The bitterness grows with each drink, reaching moderate at its peak with a nice dry finish. I could drink this beer all day long. It's bright and refreshing yet really drinkable and dangerous at 7%.

This is a really great IPA from the folks at Beachwood. It smells great with some nice depth. Ditto on the flavor. It's bitter and dry and immensely drinkable. Thanks again, Phil! This is some great stuff!

On tap at Beachwood BBQ and Brewery in Long Beach, CA.

This one pours a clear burnt orange, with a tight small white head, and a good amount of lacing.

Smells like zesty burnt pineapple, grassiness, resinous pine, grapefruit, mango, and slight malt.

The taste is similar- this is pretty much a quintessential West Coast style IPA. It's a bitter bruiser, with lots of fruit flavor- peach pineapple and grapefruit. There's very little crackery malt, enough to prop it up.

This is very crisp, and finishes super clean, with a good level of carbonation.

This is so wonderful.

Crystal clear golden brew, leaning toward yellow. Head production and retention are solid, and lacing is excellent.

Nose is restrained, but features a nice balance of dank, herbal hops, biscuit, pine notes, and light grapefruit and passion fruit.

On the palate, the hops are again the main attraction, primarily piney, but with moderate dankness. Juicy notes are not the focus, but they range from grapefruit and lemon to passion fruit and pineapple. Balanced bitterness, and a nice showing of grainy pale malts, with a touch of caramel.

Very lively and active brew. Medium-light bodied. Long, gum-smacking finish thanks to lingering hop oils.

A nice modern take on the classic West Coast IPA style.

Poured from the can into a shaker pint glass, boo hiss... canned September 24 2018.

Golden pale body color with real nice clarity. Fine carbonation ti a three finger somewhat soapy head. Minimal retention but a nice off white simple puck.

Simple but good hop aroma. Light citrus and touches of zest. Hints grapefruit and orange, but with more bitterness than sweetness character.

Real nice juicy palate. Chewy touches of wheat and orange, with tropical earth and grassy flavors. Mid palate mint and basil, with a light grassy aftertaste. Lovely rich mouthfeel giving real supportive flavors.

Excellent bright flavorful West style Ipa.

Poured into tulip. Hazy gold/orange color, not a lot of foam but healthy lacing. Tangy hop scent, know that there's definitely going to be some bitterness on the taste. There definitely is, with a mild happiness. A crisp and tangy feel to it, definitely a West Coast style IPA and a real winner.

Hazed light yellow color, highly effervescent, with three fingers of lasting white head that leave heavy lacing.

Strong aroma of soft grapefruit, soft pine and melon, with a peppery herbal note in the background. Not big and abrasive, but approachable, light and summer-like.

The taste follows the nose, but dialed up a notch. Pine and citrus stand out, with a peppery backend and strong bitterness lingering in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with a nice prickliness to the feel.

This is a superbly crafted beer. Love the west coast flavors in this one.

Ah! A crystal clear IPA. Almost a true gold body with a white head, about a finger and a half, that dissipates to a thin ring around the glass.
The aroma is pine, resin and grapefruit.
The taste is full and balanced. tropical and piney, with grapefruit and resin. Solid malt backbone with some sweetness.
The body is medium with medium carbonation. It has a wonderfully, dry, piney finish that compliments the beer.

This is the kind of beer that reminds me that I still like IPAs.

Poured into a Magnify 16 oz snulip bottled on 4/26/17. Pours a very attractive dark yellow with a 2 plus finger sticky white head that leaves thin wisps of lace all over the sides of the glass.

Smell is guava, papaya, tangerine, pine resin, and grapefruit rind.

Taste follows nicely pone, guava, papaya upfront, with some tangerine and grapefruit in very balanced finish.

Mouthfeel is a sticky medium, plenty of life, a little dry, and excellent drinkability for sure.

Overall as the say don't judge a book by its cover, this is a very simple bottle with some excellent liquid in it. Thanks @Lingenbrau for this one.

Pours a brilliant clear golden color. Thinnish white head dissipates steadily. Smell is pungent and fragrant. Lots of peach, pineapple, mango and a hint of citrus. Taste followed the nose with the aromas coming through in the flavor albeit not as robustly. Still very good. Feel was a touch thin, but it made it very drinkable. Overall a wonderful classic IPA -very well crafted.

Thanks Damon.
Treated as a DIPA because a 7.1% IPA seems to be out of range for a regular IPA, so this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy semi-clear bronzed golden color with a small cap of a little white semi-foamy head. This swiftly glided off to barely leave any lace.
The aroma had a sweet piney to grassy with a bit of danky to catty earthiness. Some kind of hoppy oily character with some passion fruit and citrus peel.
The flavor yields to the mix of the entire blend of the aromatics sweetly. There's a little bit of dry bitterness. Then a mild aftertaste of citrus peel, catty earthiness and sweet pine.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Sly carbonation and a good ABV about it. Crisp bittersweet fruity finish.
Overall, a very nicely done West coast styled DIPA I would welcome again.

I will leave this review simple. This is a world class, clean, crisp, refreshing, bursting with aroma and flavor IPA, that makes me question why I bother with any others. Nice simple malt profile, with huge hop everything. Now that it in six packs, and somewhat more easily obtainable...this will be finding itself in my fridge way more often. Cheers!

absolutely world class ipa here, one of the best expressions of mosaic hops i have seen, and a true west coast style gem from beachwood. the color is a radiant orange amber, quite clear but with a bit of fuzz as the bottle pours out. heady, one inch plus of thick and permanent white fluff. the nose is the best part, and its immaculate. rich and fresh mosaic hops, high in alpha acid, but showing less citrusy and more of a tropical fruit bouquet. i get passion fruit and pineapple, along with tart peach. its complex and awesome, and the grain bill is just large enough to keep these flavors on the tongue for awhile, before finishing off rather clean with a lingering bitter kick. i wish the brightness of the hops in the aroma came through into the flavor just a bit more cleanly, but they are still there, and its so juicy and delicious. fuller medium body and only enough carbonation to keep it in motion. overall a very well refined west coast ipa, special, and more interesting than many of the "throw it all in the kettle" types. the artwork on the label is also gorgeous. top notch ipa that i wish i could drink whenever i wanted.

Poured from a bottle, no date, after receiving in a trade...

Beautiful orange color with a frothy head and sticky lace. The aromas are absolutely stunning. Lovely citrus notes to include oranges, mangos, passion fruits. The taste echoes those sentiments with some resin and grass notes and nice pine backbone. The mouthfeel is medium body, solid carbonation with a nice biting finish.

Overall, this is one of the damn finest IPAs out there. Reminds a lot of Hill Farmstead offering in the aroma and mouthfeel. Lots of citrus with a piney finish which makes it incredibly balanced. I'm happy to have gotten a bottle of this. Wonderful!

L: Clear copper. No head or lacing, 1 minute post pour.
S: Flowery, fruity and malted.
T: Flower, citrus and malts. Oh, and some light pine.
F: Light to medium MF, light bitterness. Smooth.
O: Great balance of malts and hops. Mostly getting that famous Mosaic flavor I love, but it plays well with everything else. My 1st beer from this brewery was a winner!
