Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Hazy New England-style IPA. This is all about bringing the juice back to American beer. It isn’t about big football commercials and fancy packaging. It is about the liquid in the can. We spent our money (which is your money if you think about it) on an insane amount of the best hops available, so the can ain’t fancy, but the beer certainly is. Hazy, luscious, and full of juicy hops. This beer is brewed with no bittering hop addition, just whirlpool and insane amounts of dry-hopping. That results in a gentle bittering and a huge, juicy hop profile. Vote Juicy!

The cloudy straw yellow beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1 1/2” ivory head that slowly but visibly recedes to a thin cap of foam on the surface while leaving behind a ring lots of patches and long stringy legs of lacing on the sides of the glass.

The aromas are not very strong but include some citrus and tropical fruits. There’s some mango, a bit of pineapple, some tangerine and a small hint of malt.

The flavors are much bigger and more assertive than anticipated from the nose but include the citrus, tropical fruits, the mango, pineapple and tangerine. The controlled malt sweetness is actually not very sweet and there’s only a little bit of bitterness showing background.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite smooth with the very light but persistent carbonation. The finish begins as the mild sweetness and fruit flavors begin to fade allowing a light bit of bitterness to appear during the dry ending.

Overall I’ve enjoyed this beer and would be fine with having another. It touches all the bases (hazy, lots of fruit in the aromas and flavors, a niche smooth mouthfeel, and not much bitterness) for the newly emerged style and is worth trying.

Canned 12/15/17; drank 1/31/18 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange/yellow appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big bright white head; strong, frothy lace.

Lemon, dry wheat, mild cane sugar & faint pine notes in the nose.

Sticky, medium mouthfeel.

Lemon & cane sugar flavors up front; dry pine notes on the finish.

Cloying yet too dry; the NE IPA notes are in there but they clash, rather than coalesce. I've had my first and last.

Had on tap. Pours clear gold in color with minimal head. Taste is orange and herbal hops. Medium bodied and carbonation slightly. Makes for a slightly above average hoppy beer.

12 oz. Can canned on 4/27/18 opened on 6/6/18

A very hazy, yellow gold color with white highlights, well carbonated while showing off the tower of pure white foam topping. Dissipates slow. Some vety nice lacing is left in the foam's wake.

The aromatic quality of the hoppy aroma is seriously fruity with some hearty, earth grains and pepper effect. The hops smell as though they were crushed up fresh and placed in the can. Light citrus sweetness, tangy tropical blend, tangerine and pineapple up-front, golden wheat and herbs with a very light and crisp, herbal -toned malt aroma under that.

The first gulp brings in an unbelievably light and crisp malty bite. Pilsner-like malt effect complete with the classic herbs and spices you would expect from a pilsner. But, this is not a pilsner, but the mouthfeel and earthy, wheat and grains flavored malt thing really brings this ipa down to that level. A refreshing, juicy hoppy flavor and mouthfeel take hold right after the initial ...wow...crispy pilz thing happens. Tart citrus, herbal pineapple and light tropical juice blend, white grape juice with white pepper styl flavor's...certainly a, fresh....hop thing happening. Not seriously complex but certainly easy to drink.

The mouthfeel and texture is amazingly light and juicy but with a bit of a dry, fresh bite in the end. The middle is filled with a smooth, but light malty thing that quickly becomes juicy, and then dry.

Hazy New England-style ipa found it's way to the west coast, and back to New England.

Canned 04/30/18

Appearance - Pours hazy and straw yellow in color with an off-white, half-finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds with a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing.

Smell - Fair tropical aroma, hitting on citrus, mango and pineapple notes. Distant pine.

Taste - Follows the nose. It's tropical and fruity for sure, but not especially juicy. Orange, mango, some pineapple. Finishes much the same.

Mouthfeel - Medium in boy with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a slightly dry finish.

Overall - Good beer, but does little to deliver on the promise of being a juicy, hazy IPA. Heretic's made some killer brews; this one isn't one of them.

12oz can, Duvel tulip, canned 7/3/18.

With an appearance like fresh pressed yellow grapefruit juice, even the loose white head matches as it pops and fizzles away.

Passion fruit, pineapple, and mango. It has the acidic edge of the first two.

Yeast balances tropical exuberance, as does bitterness. It’s juicy and tropical, but the sweetness quickly falls away and the lack of body erode the juiciness.

If it wasn’t chock full of yeast it would seem even thinner. The finish is dry, which competes with the juiciness.

I love the name and this is a good NE IPA.

I got this off the single shelf at my local Giant Eagle. It poured a hazy yellow with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had faint tropical fruit. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit zeal. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Pours a beautiful bright sunny yellow with a fair amount of haze.

Tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple meet citrusy fruit notes.

Fruity tropical and citrusy notes come through in flavor but are overall underwhelming.

Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, easy drinking.

Overall, a rather underwhelming brew but drinkable nonetheless.

Rocky head of fluffy foam initially, fades quickly like a deflating soufflé.
Soapy suds stick to the glass. Lasting surface coverage. Pale hazy orange tone.

Citric and floral hop aromas, sandalwood and vitamin c tablets.
Taste is citric and floral as well, orange and tangerine peel and pith.
Light lingering bitterness in the the aftertaste. Fairly creamy feel but a little thin.
Overall it's just fine, not mind-blowing but fairly sessionable.
