Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Hazy New England-style IPA. This is all about bringing the juice back to American beer. It isn’t about big football commercials and fancy packaging. It is about the liquid in the can. We spent our money (which is your money if you think about it) on an insane amount of the best hops available, so the can ain’t fancy, but the beer certainly is. Hazy, luscious, and full of juicy hops. This beer is brewed with no bittering hop addition, just whirlpool and insane amounts of dry-hopping. That results in a gentle bittering and a huge, juicy hop profile. Vote Juicy!

12 oz. canned 10/25/17

Pours very cloudy hazy yellow gold with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like big tropical fruits, passionfruit, guava, mango, pineapple, orange citrus, grapefruit, lemon, lime, berry, light caramelized bready malt, with dank resiny spicy floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes a bit lighter in flavor with similar tropical citrusy fruit notes, some light caramelized malt, with some spice and dank resiny floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, slick and smooth with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice IPA.

I was lucky enough to live in New England for a few years, when this style came into prominence. I most closely associate "New England IPAs" not with Hill Farmstead or Tree House, but with Bissel Brothers in Portland, Maine. Their IPAs were always pleasantly--but not cloyingly--juicy, and infused with so much hop oil that they took on a thick haze.

This beer, reasonably priced at a Chicago-area bottleshop and from a California brewery--is strongly reminiscent of the Bissel Bros' beers.

It pours a thick, hazy yellow with a tight white head. Smells hoppy, with rounded spice and juicy orange. Tastes like it smells: straightforward, perhaps a little one-dimensional, but wonderfully spicy and juicy and incredibly drinkable and smooth. The finish is clean with just the slightest bit of OJ lingering on the very back end.

16 oz draft at bar- Pours hazy golden with a small bar sized head that retains nicely and wonderful sheeting lace. Aroma is Mandarin oranges, creamy creating a creamsickle sweetness, fresh and refreshing. The taste is resinous, piney, more hop forward than the aroma led on, creamy and juicy, fruits. Yum...

Absolutely filthy with particulates. Gold color with almost three fingers of white head that lasts about ten minute and leaves dense fine bubble lace.
Smell is floral resin and dank.
Taste is floral resinous hop oil with some dankness. Just enough malts for the style.
Mouthfeel is medium with proper carbonation. Finish is dry and medium bitter.
Overall a very fine turbid west coast IPA. I could drink this often. Not over the top. Just right.
