This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Had this on 2016-07-27 in Columbia, PA from a 12oz can.
A - Clear dark ruby with a 1.5 finger tan head and nice lace.
S - Pine, orange, hop buds, dark bread and a touch of caramel. Can smell it from 2 feet away. Very nice.
T - Quick bite of hop bitterness and then orange flesh, toasted brown bread, pine, caramel, light touch of chocolate and mint. There's a pleasant bitter kick in the finish but the malt flavors are still present. Great balance.
M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth, creamy, and moderately resinous.
O - Reminds me of a Troegs Nugget Nectar; a beer I really enjoy, so this is right up my alley. I'd heard about this beer for years on the Brewing Network podcasts. Glad I got to finally try it and will be glad to have it again at any time. Good stuff.

Can from Brewers Haven. Deep mahogany color, one finger fluffy beige head. Aroma us malts, dark, roasty, burnt toast. Taste us dry and dusty, leaves, tobacco, earthy. Malts at its very core. Not too strong for a strong ale, but damn tasty.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark red color, nearly black. Moderate and creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, pine, herbs and spices, also notes of lightly roasted malts. The rich and medium dry flavour is malty first, immediately followed by piney, spicy and grapefruity hops. Ends in a nice bitterness.

A - 4.0 Thin head, ruby-ish color under light
N- 3.7 sweet drive-by, not too hoppy, fermented scent, smell like wort; some pineapple, some floral, subtle hop scent
T- 4.5 Creamy, not bitter taste. Roasted malt, toast, easy to drink. Complicated body, more tart than crisp.
F- 3.0 Not too much after taste, a little disappointed. Some lemon/citrus after taste, but was gone too soon.
Overall - 3.5
