This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Can from Brewers Haven. Deep mahogany color, one finger fluffy beige head. Aroma us malts, dark, roasty, burnt toast. Taste us dry and dusty, leaves, tobacco, earthy. Malts at its very core. Not too strong for a strong ale, but damn tasty.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark red color, nearly black. Moderate and creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, pine, herbs and spices, also notes of lightly roasted malts. The rich and medium dry flavour is malty first, immediately followed by piney, spicy and grapefruity hops. Ends in a nice bitterness.

A - 4.0 Thin head, ruby-ish color under light
N- 3.7 sweet drive-by, not too hoppy, fermented scent, smell like wort; some pineapple, some floral, subtle hop scent
T- 4.5 Creamy, not bitter taste. Roasted malt, toast, easy to drink. Complicated body, more tart than crisp.
F- 3.0 Not too much after taste, a little disappointed. Some lemon/citrus after taste, but was gone too soon.
Overall - 3.5

So thanks to Heretic for supplying the beer at Coach Jensen's HOF induction ceremony for Will C Wood High School in Vacaville, it made the night even better to have good beer there. Anyways, after I (with some help) killed the dipa keg, I moved on to this.
Pours an impressive red color with ample foam head in the 3/4" range, and that is with a volunteer noob on the pour duty. Aroma was that earthy red malt first with some non aroma hops possibly coming in after that.
Taste-wise this seemed to drop some hops in the neighborhood of Chinook/Centennial/Cascade/Simcoe. Definitely better than your average red ale, this one wasn't just malty, it provided hop flavors that went beyond just grapefruit, hit those pine and other tree notes as well. Not overly sticky or hefty caramel bogging your mouth feel down. Its not quite Loakal Red, but its definitely right around that second to first tier hoppy red ale area. Not a bad beer to have when your fave runs out.
