Almost everybody has their favorite cousin. Ours is a resiny citrus and pine joy with an easy drinking malt character. We love hanging out with our cousin at the beach, camping, hiking and every holiday party. Why not welcome our cousin to your next family gathering?

On Tap at the Brewery

A - Very nice light copperish orange with an egg shell one finger head. Head disappears quickly and the lacing is long lasting. Pretty good carbonation

S - Plenty going on here with grapefruit, citrus, floral notes, pine, and sweet malt. There are also some "dank" elements going on in there which is very cool indeed. Reminds one of..of..of... I forgot what I was going to say ;-)

T - Big Hoppy flavors right up front, which are slightly tempered by the citrus and malt. Finish is bitter hops. Even though this is stockpiled with hops, it still feels balanced.

M - Full flavor with a slight, slight interesting oiliness to it. Pretty decent carbonation but that works perfectly on the finish to help round out the huge hops.

O - A real winner here, this brew will be a regular of mine. Outstanding beer.

Yum. Enjoying right now as my first out of 3 in a variety pack. Drinking at about 55 degrees F. I'm pretty sure I'd rank this as one of my top double IPA's to date. I'll update this review after I drink the other 2. One of which will be closer to the 40 degree F mark. Today is 11/16/23. The best by date on the bottom of the can is 12/30/23. 8% ABV going down easy at a little below room temp and quite tasty! I can see drinking this most any day of the week in hot or cold weather. Just be careful if you are drinking it in warm to hot weather and maybe have a bottle of water after every few beers. At 8% these will get you where you want to go in a hurry for sure considering how easy drinking they are. 8 to 8.5 out of 10 on my first impression.

Straight up dank weed in a glass. Smelled like strong Indica and tasted just like it too...in a very good way. Sticky, piney, dank, resiny and goddamn delicious! I love beers like this where the malt is just enough to give some balance to let the hops shine on the center stage and do their thang. I'm a big fan! This was much better on tap compared to the bottle I had in the past.

I've been trying to get my hands on a heretic beer for ages. Thanks for coming through N.C.

A: a hazy orange amber in color, nice white head, and a touch dusty.

S: pine, grapefruit, and pineapple. That's a nice smelling brew.

T: tropical fruit, with a day of pine, and a dank finish.

M: medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

O: overall I'm pretty pleased with this beer. Nice one Jamil!

650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Lovely aroma of fruity and piney American hops - notes of tropical fruits, citrus and pine needles. Lots of fruit, pine needles and resin in the slightly sweet flavour too. Bitter finish, very bitter aftertaste.

Must be hard to come by can stamped 2/11/20 so looking at 9 months old I didn't expect much. Hop profile was still there a bit faded but drink ability was still pretty stellar for a beer this old. Didn't even taste like old hop water the malt was still alive and crisp. Would have it again!

Recently I have been feeling a bit disappointed with not meeting my expectations with beers that I try - something I never experienced before throughout the years. But in the last week or two, I had beers that I somehow thought would be better than they actually were - and this one was no exception. Was it because these beers were from the same brewer? Could be. I had two beers from heretic in the last few days that simply didn't fulfill the promise they advertised. Yes, it is unfair to expect all to be a Sierra or a Stone or an Anderson Valley but still, one would like to expect a little bit more force in their beers. Yes, it was a double IPA but I didn't get nearly as much as from a Stone or any other brewery from the US, while they are pushing a strong imagery of the beer, being the "Evil Cousin." This kind of inconsistency I'm not really used to and maybe this is what hits me the most.
The beer was "okay" but nothing more. No Hades or any Stygian Descent was made by this beer, unlike with Stone.
