Lots of parking. Big building. Space for group gathering left of the entrance. Main bar down the hall. Large bar with lots of tables. About 20 beers on tap; cider and wine available. Friendly staff.

The Hat has a constant updated selection of beers from their great standard like Train Hopper to the seasonal stuff. I like them all especially Train Hooper and Big Doedish. The atmosphere is inviting as you'll likely see someone you know in this relatively small community. The Mug Club is a great way to build loyalty and memberships are great gifts. The seating area is open with small and large tables that allow strangers to become friends simply by sharing a table. It's a family friendly place. They have amazing community events to raise money for local charities such as their Fury for Feast event that raise $15,000 for the local chapter of Blessings in a Backpack. Well done all around. Cheers.

Nice, small, quaint place here with a small attached patio. The patio railing and also the wall in bathroom is made from the staves of used whiskey barrels. Nice touch!
Tons of beers on tap, there had to be around 20 while I was there, including some nice BA stouts since I attended the day after the "Fury for a Feast" party. Amazed such a small place could keep that many beers on tap. The party may have had something to do with that.
Servers were polite, even bringing water without asking at one point. I ordered two beers which came in 5 oz pours for $5 each. Good price for a 13-14% BA stouts if you ask me.

we had to check this place out after hearing quite a bit of hype about their beer around the area. it looks like a converted house, seems suburban at best, pretty where its located, and absolutely packed inside on a weekday afternoon, full of loud chatter, echoes, clanking glasses, very high energy and it was tough to get attention at the bar or find a place to sit. they have a cool space though, high ceilings, long bar, homey feel, beer hall vibe though. they had a nice selection of beers, all their popular hazy hoppy ones, coupled with a whole bunch of other things. on top of the hop forward beers i had a tasty coffee kolsch and a really killer imperial stout with molasses. the overall quality of the beer was great, up there with the best beers we had on the trip really. a little too bustling to be relaxing here or have impeccable service, but the experience was still very enjoyable. for a brewer i had never even really heard of before i was in the state, this place knocked my socks off. highly recommended!

Great beer, and great staff. Everyone has greeted me, asked me what I'd like and all that jazz. Place is darkish, but plays well to the theme. Cool place.

Some of the best and most interesting styles of beer, hell they invent their own styles such as a coffee kolsch. A golden beer that tastes like coffee.

Stopped in to pick up a four pack of This Guy while I was out in the South Lyon area, and wish i had more time to spend there. Most of the building is made of a large floor while long tables and chairs, giving it a beer hall feel. A bar runs along two walls of the room, with the brewing area encased in a large windowed room behind the bar. High ceilings. The long wall behind the bar also has the taps and the chalkboard with what's available, the shorter wall is dominated by hundreds of mug club mugs, each one different from the last. Service was fast and friendly, especially considering how busy they were. The pub had jusy come back up earlier in the day from a black out thats affected most of the area. Can't wait to get back to spend some time there.

Most breweries only do one thing really well. Whether it's IPAs lights darks you name it. I can honestly say I've tried 50 different beers from here. And there's only been one or two that I was not a fan of.

This pub visit was to give their beers a try, and was actually the second visit to this brewery, but the first was at their previous location a few years ago. What a difference! The beers and the setting were enormously different from the other place. Since the time of our first visit this brewery has been hyped almost endlessly in the BA forums, so a re-visit was the only way to find out why.
We ordered a sampler flight of 9 beers (22 were available) with a style mixture across the board. Overall we found that the beers did not quite live up to the hype that I had read, although I now think the hype was primarily generated by several BBA beers that are offered at special occasions and festivals, and we ordered only one BBA beer on this visit. The beers were certainly all very good (scores ranged from 3.75 to 4.25), and brewed very well to style, so were happy with what we had. Night Fury Imperial Stout was the standout. Our only complaint was the extreme cloudiness of the BBA Well Water (hence the reason for its name?), and I usually don't care about the clarity of beers.
The pub is located on the main commercial street just south of the downtown area. A large parking lot is to the side of the building, which is where the entrance is located. A partly-covered front porch on the street end of the building provides nice outdoor seating as an option. There is no food, although popcorn and snacks are available, and the place is food friendly. A Slow's BBQ food truck was in the parking lot when we visited, but I did not inquire about the schedule of food trucks here.
Notes: Howlers, crowlers and growlers are sold for many (but not all) of the beers. The wall of mug club mugs was especially impressive because the mugs are made of swirl-colored glass with mini-lights providing an accent to show off the colors. Two wines and two ciders were listed on the beer menu.

A comfortable place in downtown South Lyon.
Deck on the right, enter facing the brewery with the taproom right. Just the right amount of darkness. Long bar, tables and high tops. Fireplace at the head of the room. The mug club members have their mugs on a wall illuminated by white Christmas lights. Different styles of mugs. The effect was pretty cool!
On my visit there were 19 beers on tap, with a good variety. I had Rez Gets SMASHED, a very good DIPA. Brought a 4 pack of cans home with me.
This was a nice relaxed place. My father-in-law, not a beer drinker, enjoyed it immensely.

This is one of my favorite brewery's. They may not have food but they allow you to order from local restaurants and will sometimes have food trucks on site. Overall this place gets better every time I go.

I'm always hesistant to put much stock in reviews that are from special release events. Jackie O's is one such place where the day to day place is meh compared to their special release days. Homers disagree but that is my experience.
Witch's Hat may not be the 4.5+ place that reviewers from the bottle release are giving it, but it is rock solid, service, quality and variety of brews available. You're not going to pull a growler of whalez, but that is pretty standard practice now. Still plenty of quality stuff available in growler to go and a good variety to consume on site.

Visited the brewery for their barrel aged Night Fury release. The event was run really damn well and the staff did a great job the entire day.
The brewery itself was very cool. Liked the wall of mugs for the mug club members. The bar was nice and long and could accommodate a lot of seating. The dining area was nice and had a cool fireplace. It didn't feel cramped, never felt rushed, and had great service. Will definitely be checking out this place again in the future.

Witch's Hat is my local brewery. I love going to the hat and enjoy a lot of the beers there. They do a really nice job at creating unique beers within normal styles. Their barrel aged program is outstanding as well can't wait for Fury for a Feast.
Staff is always helpful and friendly. No one has a problem helping out and they all look like they are genuinely enjoying themselves.
The new building is a great improvement from the old location and has a much bigger feel while still maintaining the "small brewery" feel.

Went at 6 on a Saturday. Decent crowd, laid back vibe. 16 beers on tap. $5 for most pints. The beers were very good (especially Thrash Punk). The location is a but far from me so I probably won't have a change to og here very often, but I certainly would stop back by if I were in the area
