12 oz. can:

Pours slightly hazed orange-amber with a thin lasting head that leaves lacing.

The smell is of fresh orange marmalade, pine, grapefruit, touch of wet tobacco, bread. Spicy. Rich.

The taste of juicy hop goodness comes through - fresh melons, orange, pine, grapefruit, berries, tobacco. Sweet bread balances the bitterness with a firm, chewy malt backbone. Slight alcohol shows.

This is one fine IPA. Shows the Pacific Northwest IPA character well. Nice!

12 oz can, canned about a week ago

Pours a small, half finger of white head into my can-style glass. The body is a dark, burnt orange, visibility is low. Carbonation looks medium-high. Overall, a simple looking IPA so far.

Nose is simple as well, light bitterness with a soft malt sweetness. Pretty floral, with a honey/caramel malt nose. Actually, quite a bit of toffee, more than honey or caramel. Smells more like an east coast to me. Maybe a hair bready. Overall not bad, not what I want in a west coast though.

Yeah, really not that bitter of an IPA, at all. For 70 IBU’s, it tastes more like 40 or 50 to me. Getting a lot of that sweet honey, almost creamy malt. Just really not a lot going on here. I’ll let it warm for a little while.

The mouthfeel is, eh, ok. Relatively light bodied for an IPA, maybe a tad thin. Carbonation is medium-low, with little lingering bitterness. Not very dry, relatively wet mouthfeel. Would probably prefer a bigger body, and a hair more carbonation.

Drinkability is high. It’s not off the charts tasty, but it’s fine, and goes down well.

As this beer warmed, not much changed. Maybe a small citrus note came out? Overall, kinda disappointed. Not a bad beer, just very little going on flavor wise.

The appearance started out pretty vanilla, and in a lot of ways remained that way. I got pretty good lacing though, so that’ll bump it up.

Pine notes at first, citrus to follow - but all within a malt framework that keeps it in balance. Real nice west coast IPA from this brewery. Dated on the can bottom to insure freshness. Great value if your looking for a tasty West Coast IPA within budget parameters.

From a can picked up while in Bellingham, WA (with no discernible/decodable bottling date) into a spieglau ipa glass. That is just about a perfect 2 finger spongy/frothy off-white head, with very good retention and great lacing, sitting on top of a fairly clear copper-amber. Nose is inviting, with some piney resin, some candied citrus, some bready and caramel malt...nothing too fancy or surprising, but really solid classic NW IPA. Taste delivers the promise of the nose...really well balanced, with a nice compelling but not overdone bitterness. There's also some extra notes in there that I'm going to put down to the yeast, but I really have no idea. All in all, though it doesn't lack for hoppy liveliness, it also drinks very smooth. Carbonation is middling, body is middling, finish is long and satisfying, with just a kiss of minty/wintergreen to go with the citrus and pine. Very easy drinker and absolutely no heat, despite the 7%. Nothing too fancy, but absolutely solid. Very happy that I had the chance to try this one...wish I could find it in the midwest. I need to get to Bend one of these days.

12oz can pours a slightly hazy burnt orange color with 2 inches of frothy head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is the aroma is citrus and tropical hops with some floral notes. The taste is floral hops with a good deal of toasted malts. Some tropical fruits at the end, namely guava with light pine notes. Tons of carbonation. Overall, decent but nothing special.

Impressive head retention. I gave this a vigorous pour and had to wait several minutes in order to top off the glass.
Chill haze, light aroma with a slightly sweet note atop a candied citrus taste. Easygoing sixer, nothing stands out as spectacular.

Poured 12 oz can into standard pint glass. The beer is cloudy, and a deep orange/amber color. Beautiful, creamy head that settled into a substantial film. The aroma is very nice, one of the best aspects of this beer in my opinion. Lemon and passion fruit come to mind. The taste is also very good. A well balanced beer, the big NW hops style bitterness is accented with the sweeter malt and make for a smooth ride. Citrus, fruit, and pine, with a pepper finish. Juicy and resinous is the mouthfeel. The aftertaste makes you want another sip. An excellent IPA.
