12 oz. Serving. Canned on 6/26/17 opened on 9/9/17

A very slight haze out to the dark honey, amber and golden color. Classic white foam cover. A steady cover at all times. Big lace with long legs all over.

The sweet, fruity, tropical juicy, red barries and dry earthy wheat notes from these hops is simply magical. Very bold and aromatic.

A very clear..spring water and lively carbonation makes it feel ultra clean and crisp. Light bite and clean finish here is pretty excellent.

The malt gives a rather impressive toasted wheat bread edge. Earthy, dry bitter aspects to the hops hits you first, melds with crispy malt but allows the , tangy, herbal and leafy affects from the hops to pop in full effect later on. The balance of malt and hops here is more equal than some west coast style ipa's....an almost roasty malt thing comes as the liquid warms, showing off a serious malt backbone.

A unique IPA complexity, the malt flavor and overall affect is rather impressive. The hops are multi layered and unique...with some minor mint and dry leaves impression. It is not easy to stand out in the realm of the endless galaxy that is the American IPA style, but damn, if it doesn't regardelsss.

This is one of my go-to ales to keep in stock or to pick up on my way to the beach etc. Never disappointing and for the price of 1 1/2 pours from the Rogue mother-ship here in town, I get 6 12 oz. cans filled with a very nice IPA.
This is a well-balanced IPA and I recommend it even in cans...

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light lacing roaming all about. The smell started off with a big burst of citrus hops running over light piney notes and then a slight floral setting balances within. The taste copied the smell to have a nice bittersweet burst of hops to malts, nicely balanced. A light piney to citrus aftertaste leads into a refined sweet citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels right for an AIPA - slightly back to allow the hops to take the lead on the bitterness and harshness on my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA that I would have again.

Absolutely delicious. Poured from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass. A hazy amber with a healthy clingy head. The smell;l yields hops right up front: citrus and pine with a very light malt shadow under. The taste is rich and lovely, hoppy goodness upfront, but nicely balanced by the mild malt background. This is a terrific IPA, and I hope I run across more of it.

12 oz. can:

Pours slightly hazed orange-amber with a thin lasting head that leaves lacing.

The smell is of fresh orange marmalade, pine, grapefruit, touch of wet tobacco, bread. Spicy. Rich.

The taste of juicy hop goodness comes through - fresh melons, orange, pine, grapefruit, berries, tobacco. Sweet bread balances the bitterness with a firm, chewy malt backbone. Slight alcohol shows.

This is one fine IPA. Shows the Pacific Northwest IPA character well. Nice!

12 oz can, canned about a week ago

Pours a small, half finger of white head into my can-style glass. The body is a dark, burnt orange, visibility is low. Carbonation looks medium-high. Overall, a simple looking IPA so far.

Nose is simple as well, light bitterness with a soft malt sweetness. Pretty floral, with a honey/caramel malt nose. Actually, quite a bit of toffee, more than honey or caramel. Smells more like an east coast to me. Maybe a hair bready. Overall not bad, not what I want in a west coast though.

Yeah, really not that bitter of an IPA, at all. For 70 IBU’s, it tastes more like 40 or 50 to me. Getting a lot of that sweet honey, almost creamy malt. Just really not a lot going on here. I’ll let it warm for a little while.

The mouthfeel is, eh, ok. Relatively light bodied for an IPA, maybe a tad thin. Carbonation is medium-low, with little lingering bitterness. Not very dry, relatively wet mouthfeel. Would probably prefer a bigger body, and a hair more carbonation.

Drinkability is high. It’s not off the charts tasty, but it’s fine, and goes down well.

As this beer warmed, not much changed. Maybe a small citrus note came out? Overall, kinda disappointed. Not a bad beer, just very little going on flavor wise.

The appearance started out pretty vanilla, and in a lot of ways remained that way. I got pretty good lacing though, so that’ll bump it up.

Pine notes at first, citrus to follow - but all within a malt framework that keeps it in balance. Real nice west coast IPA from this brewery. Dated on the can bottom to insure freshness. Great value if your looking for a tasty West Coast IPA within budget parameters.
