Sealed with black wax, this Bourbon Barrel aged black IPA was poured into snifters.

A- Jet black with almost no head
S- Huge bourbon barrel smell, oaky, booze, sweet carmel
T- This is the most increadibly drinkable boubon barrel aged beer I have ever had. So well balanced in the use of barrel characteristics that you don't have to skip this. Smooth and rich with oak and carmel.
M- Still has the black IPA mouth feel, not too thick or sticky

O- Probably the most balanced use of bourbon barrel.

Boozy mess, all over the place and way overpriced. Hops are present but not enjoyable, and barrel heat overpowers anything else this tries to be. It's like the dredges of a tasting that the drunk idiot mixes together as a "cuvee" at the end of the night. Proof that BA is not always a good idea.

Looks like a chocolatey Coca-Cola. Light doesn't make it through. Minor head the color of chocolate chip cookie dough.

Smells slightly like roasted brussel sprouts, but in a good way. Slight vegetal pungency, good caramelized notes, rich, bright honey aroma, and mild barrel aged barleywine smell. It smells sweet, not off putting, but won't savor the smell like a floral hoppy IPA.

The taste is awesome. Smooth, sweet, slight hint of the bourbon on the back end, but not overpowering at all. Alcohol is not detectable. I'd compare this to the smoothest session barleywine ever. Minor hop tang/bitterness to keep this unbelievably balanced. Subtle tobacco on the back end- a 6.66% abv cigar beer! Extremely well balanced.

Mouthfeel is perfect. Good carbonation, the body is not too light and not syrupy. It goes down quick at 6.66%.

Would love to try this fresh, but damn, it's like a session barleywine with a bit of dark malt. Huge fan of FFF, but they have had a lot of barrel aged misses and I don't like their black IPAs , however this is tasty. Don't go nuts in a trade for it, but if you wanted a great beer to quaff on a special occasion, it won't disappoint. Might have waited too long after a couple years at a lower abv, but am loving this.
