Collaboration with Mikkeller
The fifth beer made with our brew buddies, Mikkeller. A big and ballsy, tasty Barley wine following the same path as the previous “Goops” made available. This time with corn taking over the throne.

Me and Mikkeller never seem to vibe with each other...

Bottled 10/9/14; drank 11/1/14 @ the Yarchives.
Strawberry rust hue.
HUGE eggnog colored head (careful pouring!); frothy lace.
Pineapple & caramel nose.
Mango, pineapple & caramel mingle tastefully; very bold but still drinkable.
A touch too much malt for me, but very nice.

Presentation: 22 oz. brown bottle with no dates. Served in a Samuel Adams pint glass.
Appearance: The two finger head stays around for a very long time and settles into a thin foam layer that stays until the end. It leaves behind a lot of lacing in patches and sheets all over the glass. It's a beautiful, clear, bright, copper color.
Smell: It starts off with some floral notes, moves towards fruity citrus aromas of orange and lemon and finishes with a malt and caramel sweetness.
Taste: At first it's sweet, bready and spicy with some malt, corn, biscuits and black pepper. It finishes with some earthy and floral hop notes and an oily pine resin in the background.
Mouthfeel: It's medium bodied and slightly creamy with medium carbonation.
Overall: It looks absolutely amazing and the smell and taste are rich and complex. An excellent beer in every single aspect.

Really hazy dark owner color with beige head. Aroma has caramel malt, orange rind, some piney hops and a hint of dried figs. Taste is really balanced. Slightly sweet caramel malt at first, dried oranges, figs, medium, earthy and resiny bitterness on the finish with some dried orange peel. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a good DIPA / American barleywine with a well hidden abv.

A really nice middle ground between DIPA and Barleywine. Remarkably smooth, creamy body (but not really heavy / sticky), no alcohol in nose or flavor. Candied orange and a bit of a toffee backdrop. Could actually see this pairing well with a spicy food.

Bottled 10/9/2014 enjoyed 8/16/2015 in a Three Floyds pint glass. This is the Three Floyds version that I bought recently to go at Ale Emporium in Indianapolis.
Look - Honey. Translucent. Light tan finger of head that settles to a ring around the edge. Blotchy lacing. Fine bubbles. A lot of sedmiment from last pour.
Smell - Malt. Honey. Hops. Toffee. Caramel.
Taste - Honey. Syrup. Mango. Malt over bitter hops. Tea. Grass.
Feel - Not too much carbonation. Medium to heavy. Little terrorism of the tongue.
Overall - I expected a barleywine. I got IPA. I read label and it said IPA. I read reviews and some say barleywine others IPA. Enjoyed long after I would hope to get a fresh review.
